Lovely Character, great composition, and unique style as always.

12-16-2003, 10:11 PM
wow, I love your style, and the natural feeling about the image!!

12-16-2003, 10:13 PM
the ear looks wierd.

12-16-2003, 10:14 PM
Very nice, Xavier!

12-16-2003, 10:22 PM
As everytime

12-16-2003, 10:24 PM
Your style rocks.. Amazing!

12-16-2003, 10:25 PM
great character!!

I agree with EVIL though, the ears is a bit big and low isn't it?

looks a bit too youg to be smoking eh ;)

12-16-2003, 10:31 PM
Sort of reminds me of Gungrave and Hellsing. :D

Beautiful work! I'd love to see how you put it all together.

12-16-2003, 10:44 PM
It took exactly 2 seconds after seeing this to decide this one goes into my "awesome-stunning-breathtaking-art" folder

very cool colours, that's the best part. I love the combination of the young girl, the cigarette and her clothes.

definately one of the best plugs I have seen lately.

sorry to sound fanboyish, but this piece deserves it.

12-16-2003, 10:46 PM
Overall, it has a nice mood. I love the earthtone color scheme and the details. Only thing like others have said, the ear is low and texture of the hat isn't convincing. This one goes into my favorite images archive.

12-16-2003, 10:51 PM
damn Xavier, you've done it again! I love your work, it has so much style

12-16-2003, 10:58 PM
He He thank a lot :)

thank you also for the link with gungrave : touchdown guy ;)

the ear it is not an error but an anamorphose of the design at the Falcoon style : the designer of King of fighter, jet set radio futur etc etc :)

I like his style

12-16-2003, 11:16 PM
beautiful colors & composition

strong pose--really has such great attitude, nice attention to detail--

i think i like this piece best of all the pieces i have seen you create yet.

keep up the strong work!

12-16-2003, 11:20 PM
And to my I like your style. It magnifies image

By the way, have you already visited some of the coffee-shop?, jejeje. A greeting:applause: :applause:

12-16-2003, 11:22 PM
I like. A lot. Very much.

12-16-2003, 11:38 PM
Excellent work
At first glance I thought it was an illustration. Really like the paint like quality of the whole image. Is the background 3d as well?

Just checked out you're website too. Great characters.

12-16-2003, 11:45 PM
thx :)

background in 3D too :)

Game Keeper
12-16-2003, 11:46 PM
reminds me of Captain Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribean  Yo HO!

12-17-2003, 12:23 AM
Ah...she's all grown up now...or maybe not;)
Great image! I like the colors and the expression on her face.

12-17-2003, 12:51 AM
This is beautiful... you must do tutorials. I yearn to be able to model my own style to a tee one day just as you. I usually only lurk these boards because half the time I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.. but this here man... this is grand.

Bravo. Keep freakin it.

12-17-2003, 01:00 AM
So nice work here. i love it. beautiful colors and compositing.
Well down.

12-17-2003, 01:05 AM
Thatís a good looking piece, impressive work, very nice
The texture is nice 2d looking. Nice character as well.
Iím curious about the texture, are everything texture maps or have you combined it with shaders?

12-17-2003, 01:10 AM
Yeah yeah yeah. She's nice. Congrats dude.
Even though i'm a bit tired of the manga-like stuff, you have fully assimilated the style, and this is not the easiest thing to do. Take it as a compliment, of course ;)
Cheers Xavier!

mmm. Amsterdam...

12-17-2003, 01:18 AM
glad to se another creation from you Xav ;) Its been a while since I havent see much 3D characters here.. last one was your assasin e338 right? looks like 80% of the creations at CGtalk are 2D these last three months .. it`'s not a bad thing eh? just a fact ;) its going to be hard for Expose2.. and the deadline shortened too.. damn ...

12-17-2003, 01:38 AM
Good job Xavier..
All's been said :)
Just love the tone and pose and atmosphere you created...
any possibility to see her in a different pose, like shooting or something?

12-17-2003, 01:57 AM
Love it! It rocks! Love the style, colors....just flat out love it. Any additional renders of this?

12-17-2003, 02:23 AM
Very nice! Now I'm not just jealous of your position but of your skills as well! :)

12-17-2003, 02:24 AM
Very well done, the colors and the mood it creates is excellent.
The only things I don't like are the hair, which looks a bit stiff, and the face, I think it would look beter overall without the anime-esque face, it doesn't seem to match the rest of the image very well. But that's just me.

12-17-2003, 02:38 AM
Very nice work!! Love the style :buttrock:

12-17-2003, 02:38 AM
Wow, the color scheme only accentuates the beautiful modeling and texture work. Show us more. mokba

12-17-2003, 02:54 AM
i really like your style, which is including the color, and the character, background, etc.
merry christmas!

12-17-2003, 02:56 AM
doh! Double Post

12-17-2003, 02:56 AM
lovely render. I don't know if I can align the kiddy/anime face with the body and accessories. I really like the body but the face... dunno... Looks a tad odd to me. The styling is quite Final Fantasish.. is that deliberate?

12-17-2003, 03:29 AM
awesome character!!!!!!!!!

12-17-2003, 03:43 AM
I do like that a lot. My only criticism is that some of the poly edges are a little jarring, like in the hair. (if its designed to be low poly, then ignore that )
The one strand of hair that emerges from the forehead seems a little odd at its base, like its sticking out of the skin like a horn.

Just my opinion.

Other than that, very nice work.

12-17-2003, 04:39 AM
 Absolutly spec-friggin-tacular! The ear's fine, BTW. But if I had to--bendin' my arm type--give a crit I'd say the texture laid on the hat as it comes around the brim (of the left side of the image) look's stretched. (disclaimer: I didn't read all the replies, so if this's been mentioned then nix mine). Other than that, I grovel...

12-17-2003, 05:15 AM
is she girl ??
i rather belive he is boy..
it is cool .i like it~~~

See u very soon :p

12-17-2003, 08:39 AM
Nice image there Xavier :buttrock:

Any news on the proceedings of the game that is developed by guerrilla-games ?

I'm guessing the former Lost Boys pulled all the plugs and invited some top international artists to do some magic.
IF i may ask - how many people are working there at G.G. right now anyway ?

12-17-2003, 08:53 AM
love the mood of the character, it reminds me of gun grave, i think that's what it's call.. great work:thumbsup:

12-17-2003, 09:24 AM
superbe !!! Tu m'impressiones de plus en plus a chaque fois, chapeau !

12-17-2003, 09:40 AM

I would like to see it animated!

12-17-2003, 10:17 AM
great, love all the details and character design, although not sure about the Falcoon ear, but that's personal. Nice rendering also.
Reaaly stimulates me to make new characters, :)
Nice to hear you work at Guerrilla now. Do you have to use maya now? Are you the only one doing promotional work?
Keep it going!

12-17-2003, 10:30 AM
it's fantastic image..but i can't tell is that she or he exept seing title text.. :/

12-17-2003, 10:52 AM
Thanks all :)

Roman - > falcoon anamorphos ( look the design and the ears. :)

I'm really happy to work in netherlands. This country is really nice and i found a tranquility, a dream for an ancient "parisian".

For guerrilla we are two for the marketting art.

And yes I use maya now.

12-17-2003, 10:55 AM
Good to hear you like the Netherlands :)
Yeah I really like Falcoons work, :) (big inspiration also)
I'll be doing my internship at Guerrilla next month (6 months), so maybe I'll meet you ;)

12-17-2003, 11:20 AM
bienvenue a amsterdam!

great city if you avoid the center : )
I also just experienced the calming down factor from moving away from the known structures ... no more mobilephone calls ... just 3 emails instead of 20 and a lot of time for nerding arround

great work ... like the asian touch you ad even to a western motive ... looks like a conquistador on a sailing ship (or is it a dutch sailor or captain)

12-17-2003, 11:36 AM
ouaou , your work is great  and I like that

( j adore tes design de perso et leurs postures c est vraiment du tres bon boulot ..... tres se)nsible tout cela :applause:

12-17-2003, 11:59 AM
Wonderfull picture... I love the style.. Of course I can't avoid thinking final fantasy caracters, but its also different... Amazing job... I like the hat, gives a nice look to the character... It make me think to captain halock little guy...
Great piece!

I love this style....very anime!!!

In fact it looks very similar to the Hellsing character in the anime movies of the same name...any co-incidence??

Nice work

12-17-2003, 02:15 PM

very pretty girl!
I like the style of your work!

04-18-2006, 12:59 PM
Very well done, the colors and the mood it creates is excellent.
The only things I don't like are the hair, which looks a bit stiff, and the face, I think it would look beter overall without the anime-esque face, it doesn't seem to match the rest of the image very well. But that's just me.

I agree. The face just doesn't match. I don't like the image although I appreciate the skill required to create it.
