View Full Version : Character: Requiem in F minor
12 December 2003, 12:08 AM
With one classical singer already in the gallery(Kumans), I thought I'd share my latest work with a different kind of singer. Don't know where he is coming from, but I have a feeling it's not a good place.
Feedback is welcome...

Looks very cool, but I got some qrits...:
The singer looks like he is made by metal, but he still got sss on his ear
I think the environment is a bit boring, but the birds makes it look nicer (and weird ;) )
Anyway, u got some cool work here with a cool style so keep it up dude!

WOW! i cant belive no one has posted on this besides one person...thats how cgtalk is though. all kinds of great artwork gets swept up in tons of other threads. anyway really great i really enjoyed that. do you have some wireframe images?

Amazing. I love the character.

Thanks, but I'm not aiming for photorealism here or any kind of realism for that matter. I wanted to keep the environment very simple. I think this is a kind of image you either love or hate...birds are always nice though:)
thanks for the kind words Levitateme

lol love the bird on his head! great peice all togather, i llike how you somehow added a sence of humor to a rather grim subject, at least thats how i see it :D

This reminds me of the old-school aesthetic of CGI before you could make fuzzy warm characters. The images were cold, dark and slightly unsettling. I love it! :) I would LOVE to see something like this animated. Not with a a bunch of character animation but just something... perhaps he sinks into a pile of his own cloth-like flesh! Perhaps he never moves at all while the days go speeding past one by one while the dirt and decay of time begin to accumulate, eating holes in his curtain backdrop and causing his flesh/cloth to darken and stain with time...
this is my kinda stuff...
very very nice

i love it ... :)
Think you´re getting to a very personal "voice"...

You are becoming one of my fav artists, hehe :)

this is some really disturbing but genious stuff:)
think i would even like it beter if the lower part of the body was mixed into the curtains

it is realy sinister without beeing creepy.
meaning it has the air of death withaout going halloween.
the face expression is so letargic, so frozen but still giving the impression to perform on this stage
the birds give a glimps of hope, they sing some twirrls over the F minor

oh yes, that rocks man !!! i love this kind of char/attitude ! great great job !!
12 December 2003, 02:04 PM
OK now this is GREAT!!!
I love the leather look to his flesh and I think the background works wonderfully with the composition.
First thing that comes to mind his someone in their private corner of hell, damned to sing a single note forever, his flesh slowly sliding off his body since he is forced to stand.
But thats just me :)
By the way did I mention that this is GREAT?!?!

Very nice. Birds are a great touch. The figure blends slightly too much into the background for me though, just a touch of a rimlight, or slightly lighter patch behind the head/shoulder would bring it out more...
Definitely thumbs up though

Thanks a lot for the comments and cool suggestions!
It would be cool to do an animation with it if I can find the time. Maybe just add a sountrack and practise some lipsync if nothing else.
Here is a wireframe of the character(and bird)

Looks creepy but I like it. My kind of style. Throw some weirdness at people and see how they squirm.
12 December 2003, 08:22 PM
I think its great. It's creepy.. but creepy in a good way.
12 December 2003, 10:42 PM
I don't know why, but this one made me laugh out loud!
Great work in every aspect. Respect...
love the work on your site too
12 December 2003, 10:53 PM
well done...lip sync animation on it would be great. Try to find a dramatic song for it....not opera though would be difficult to sync that...i suppose...but something like The Phantom Of the Opera...I can see it, singing that.
12 December 2003, 12:29 AM
Spacemanbob- hehe that's one way to put it, but yeah, something like that;)
Tawa- yes he is creepy, but the birds don't seem to mind. Maybe we can learn something from them...:wise:
m@.- thanks, well he does look a bit stupid doesn't he? I laughed myself a few times while making it.:D

A little strange, lol
But nice image here, Interesting !! LOL

Original design. I like it.
Could have been a little bit more dramatic with a vertical format, the square one doesn't seem really justified (even though it's not usual and also cool). Am i clear?
Cool pict. cheers

awesome! but i was dissappointed as i scrolled down, i half expected to see the that he was flowing out of the curtains, they have similar colour, and the folds are similar.....
