View Full Version : Quick question: Monitor resolutions?

Hi all....

Just a quick question regarding monitor resolutions.

Which monitor res would be the correct to work in as I know that the some of the aspect ratios are totally different.

My two choices are: 1280x960 and 1280x1024. I genarally work in 1280x1024 mode. But was told that this aspect ratio is a bit off as I would not get the true proportion. I recently checked some of my models at 1280x960 (that were modelled at a resolution of 1280x1024) and the models seemed stretched .

Any advice would be most appreciated.

oh you scared me for a sec there, cuz I work at 1280x1024.

Try to look at your models at 1024x768 and they will look fine so you can stay at 1280 x 1024 with no fears. :)

Actually 1280X960 is the correct aspect ratio of 4x3(which is the aspect ratio of almost all monitors). If your resolution is 1280x1024 your screen will look slightly horizontally streched.

So if you have your resolution at 1280X1024 you'll have to adjust your monitor's width setting to compensate for the extra vertical pixels in 1280X1024. Some people I know don't realize their images look streched cause they've been working at 1280X1024 for so long, so chances are you might have gotten used to it as well, but when other people see your screen chances are they will tell you it looks streched.

Ikarus: that's basically what I was told by a friend of mine...

Prs-Phil: Yeah I'm getting worried myself. I'm in the progress of making a character, so I thought I had better check, and when I switched over to 1280x960, he was sorta tall and skinny

 Thanks all...
