congradulations on finishing your first short! Really nice work ! The animation is really good and the pace of the story to the music is perfect. Great music by the way. :)

Damn your first short.. :D

I love it. The animation, the ball, the music. GREAT.

But i have one point. When the character sits on the tree, the stick he is pulling goes trough the tree.

Thats the only thing i have to complain...

As i said.. GREAT JOB.

It's an excellent short. It's especially good seeing as it's your first. The blue fellow's well modelled and animated very well. Also, for being just a ball, you've sure given it a ton of character. You should be applauded for that!

All I can say is...I can't wait until your next project!

Awesome stuff. Very fluid animation during the ball push. I really liked the jump cuts too.

Keep up the good work!

Nice work dude! The close-ups on the face were extremely effective, and the story works well. The animation was also very impressive for a first time short. The one crit that came to mind was that I wished the central figures were rendered with the same qualities as the background, with that gorgeous painterly look. But that's personal pref I guess...
Nice one

yes the backround panintings are a highlight

great job!
itīs always good to see that someone finishes a working animation, by staing down on the ground.

the story is realy nice and the joice of music also ... is this your finishing work at VFS?

good luck!

thanks everyone for the replies. i really appreciate the feedback. if anyone cares to know, here is a little background info on the project:

the piece was completed over a period of 6 months as my final project while at the vancouver film school. all modeling and animation was done using softimage|XSI. backgrounds were painted in photoshop, which i must say i found to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the process...a relaxing break from the often frustrating world of animating. composites were done in after effects and editing done in premiere.

once again, thanks for taking the time to watch my film and i'd love to hear from more of you out there.

Very very nice. I really enjoyed watching the whole thing. Everything about it worked. The camera angles, the animation, the lighting, everything. Congratulations. I hope to turn out something just as nice when I create my first short.

That's well good. Kind of reminded me of the cyote trying to get road runner! :)

I especially like the atmosssphere when it turned to night time and he was laid by the fire. Great job!
