View Full Version : !!help Need Firewire To Upload Dv50!!

I need desperate help. We have 75 hours of video to upload to beging editing. The video is in DV50 (DVCPRO 50). But the firewire that our Matrox DTV has only supports up to 25 bits (DV 25). We need to find a firewire card that can upload DV50. If you know a retailer that carries them or have one to sell please reply!

DV50 records and plays data at 50 megabits per second, which is about 6.25 megabytes per second. What you need is a capturing software that can handle DV50 as well as a set of harddisks that can handle the speed. The problem isn't the hardware its the software.

Negative, Speed Razor can handle DV50.
We spoke to Matrox and they stated that while the DTV can edit DV50 none of their products can Import/capture DV50 through the supplied firewire or the TI card that they sell.
Buyer beware! The specs on their web site never say anything about it not being able to import DV50. Now we are looking into buying an SDI card...

That is such false advertising on matrox's part, jerks. Anyway the only windows based card capable of doing that, that I know of are the blue fish cards.
Best of luck.

Perhaps I know nothing but why won't any old FireWire card with the proper software do the trick? I thought FireWire had a limit of 400MBits, which is a LOT higher than the 50 MBits required.
