I have an idea about doing a challenge based on this classic VFX sequence
(and of course with original IP of a ship called Excalibur)

Docking Spacedock ST3

Leaving Space Dock

Stealing the Enterprise

This would be right up my alley.

That would be a blast. As a matter of fact, I started modeling the Enterprise E a few weeks ago. If you decide on this topic, and I have the model finished up to a good enough point, I'de be happy to provide it for anyone to use.

The we has thousands of examples of really BAD spaceship animation.
I want us to avoid that.

One of the things I want to capture is the different styles for Spaceship animation:

Start Trek Films : Old Sailing ships

Star Wars: WWII fighters

Galactica 2000: WWII Warships

Babylon 5: Stylized "Physics Based"

The Ability to capture mass is important for effective spaceship animation

Also Lighting is incredibly important.

All the examples above, specially Treak and Star Wars provide superb examples of good lighting.

Just seen this robowars on youtube, thought that it may be a nice challenge too, later maybe

A lot of freedom in design, could be fun

We did MECH ARENA Last year, but we could do Robot Boxing.
