View Full Version : Character: Grigory Efimovich Rasputin

Yes, I am modeling the mad monk. The man that prediced the deaths of last Tzar of Russa and his family less than two years before it happened, as part of a warning about his own murder less that a month later. The man that was poisoned (and survived it,) stabbed (and survived that too,) shot (several time, and you guessed it he lived,) beaten around the head and shoulders (they still didn't kill him,) and finally tried up and thrown in a hole in an ice covered river, all this in the same night. He did finally drown simple because the ice was too thik to break through. I just can help but admire that, so I figure he's a good subject for a game model.
This model is going to be a Quake III or UT character model so my tri limit is 1500 to 2500. I'm using Max 5.1, and an editable poly to make the model.
Crits and advice are welcome.

yeah you´ve choosen a really cool char there. Something different :)
13 inches ... really ... be carefull there Dhin, you will need some extra polys ;)

Good start, but the eyes are so big they look like sunglasses.

I'm not so sure about the 13 inch thing, but he definitely had appetites that would require a 'unit' like that.
Just a couple of small updates:

I've stylized him a little more. Just to make him more characterized. You know what I mean? I'm not trying to do the model realistic. That's why I've stretch the arms and legs a little. I did this so his head and hands would be the most imposing and prominent features. His body is meant to be more wispy, like smoke, less physical but snake like and flowing. . . again I'm not sure if I can convey what I'm meaning to do with it.
(And I know the feet look too cartoonish, I hate drawing feet. I'm no good at it.)

Hey Dhin, I think what you're trying to say is that you're making a 3D caricature. Good job so far. Is it just for practice or for an actual game/MOD?

it's for a comp at 3D total. Though I'm thinking about changing the model I'm using for the comp though.

The mode has around 1400 tri.
