Here's an early start of another model, the "Toco Toucan" still need to make tail feathers, and wings, and of course textures ect.

how in the hell do you wip out so many chars so fast??? lol HOW! lol. Looks cool man :)

12-08-2003, 12:45 AM
lol models like these and the chameleon are really pretty simple shapes (look at the wires)

Plus I'm faster when i don't have to get it to look like someone (caricatures for example)

and thanks!

12-08-2003, 12:58 AM
cool. I need to start making simpe things lol.

12-08-2003, 01:43 AM
as you said simple ( but effective ), nice stuff.

12-08-2003, 04:35 AM
Hey thanks :) Yeah with things like these I prefer to keep the geometry really simple and really kick it up a notch with the textures and expressions. Just like the chameleon I did

Now.. Feathersss

Pi, now tell me, in real life, how many are you ?
Are you some kind of siamese ?
I can't believe you make so many things in so little time, with such quality !
Awesome my friend ! Edge loop master !

and now he wants me to rig wings !!!:banghead:
top model man
rig with wings should be done in the morning

You are making the rest of us look bad :)

Keep up the great work.

12-08-2003, 03:02 PM
lol thanks :D

T4D rocks so more than ever, I wouldn't get half this stuff out so fast if he wasn't a lighning fast rigger ;)

Thanks again man

And Proton, I'll show the Frog later today :D

Pi, what techinique to you use when you model? You get nice flows to your models and they are very simple, yet very effective. Any tips are tricks you could share would be awesome! :buttrock:

As usual, I love you work!

You rock.

How you do so much, so quickly is amazing.

Very inspiring!

With the chameleon and toucan, I patch modeled.

Starting with the eyeball, and building the eyesocket around the eyeball.

From there I keep extending out from the eye untill I end up with a closed complete mesh

As for the neatness and polyflow? That's just some carefull planning :)

Do you use the regular Extender tool in LW? Cause everytime I use that stupid tool, you get there weird polygons between the first and last points you selected. :banghead:

edit: i was just playing with this and it seems you have to select the points in ORDER for it to work properly. duh! wait, im still getting extra polygons if i extend a flat wall or something, you just can't see the extra polygon at first.

Freaking awesome! That's got to be one of the cleanest meshes I've ever seen. You rock! :buttrock:

Yeah the regular extender that comes with lightwave (is there another ? lol)

That always happens with the extender tool

What you need to do is delete the polygon that appears behind the row that you've extended

12-08-2003, 04:32 PM
ah, ok...thats sorta painful. ;)

And yeah, there is DI's Power Tools extender. I just tried the same thing with DI's Extender tool and it didn't make that extra polygon!! You might wanna try that out. :buttrock:

12-08-2003, 04:35 PM
Thanks steve!

Tornado, yeah it can be painfull depending on how much extending where your doing it, you get used it it I guess :P

Pi, re-read my last post, I think you'll find it interesting. DI rules!

12-08-2003, 04:38 PM
LOL Christophe Desse just told me about that over ICQ also. Cool! thanks guys, I'll be looking into that one, might get these models out even faster now ;)

Yeah, I don't know how I ever lived w/o his create pole and fix pole plugins!! :wip:

Thanks :)

And here's the feathers finished

I know he looks ultra simple, but the textures and poses will bring him to life, once again just like the chameleon

I love working with this style :bounce:

12-08-2003, 05:20 PM
That is one cool toucan!!

Oh, man! You must wear out your mouse and keyboard from modeling so quickly!! :arteest: The feathers are just terrific! When do we get to see a render?

Keep up the fantastic work!

12-08-2003, 07:49 PM
I'll show a render when we get some poses down, T4D is a madman working on the rig, and I'm animating that chameleon scene.

When the rig is done I'll do some pre-texture renders, then some more after :)

I also have a frog I started making yesterday too, I'll work on him a little more and upload some screens later :)

As for the speed? LOL, it's all about pre-visualization. When I sit down to model a character / animal whatever, I already know exactly what I want to model and exactly how I'll model it. I sit down, and bang, I start and don't stand up untill it's done. It's fast, effective and efficient :)

90% of the modeling work is done in my head before I even open LW.

Thanks again

(Thats all I have to say about that)...
