Here's my latest work, a little Panther Chameleon toony/realistic texture style.
As you can see i've done a few color variations, it's a chameleon afterall
Hope you like him :)
Chameleon Rigged by T4D, and an amazing job he did! Thanks agian man

Some wires and a little gif file.
My server only allows a limited size in uploads so I had to take out some frames of the anim which made it rather off timed and messy, I just wanted you to see him in motion, sorry

12 December 2003, 12:23 AM

That is such a cool little critter man. :D the speed that you make these models is insane I must know your secret lol.
12 December 2003, 12:55 AM
And I don't sleep, ask anyone on my ICQ list :D
12 December 2003, 12:59 AM

Chameleons ALWAYS look at their prey with BOTH eyes before striking.
Other than that one minor detail, very nice :)
12 December 2003, 01:06 AM
hehehe, maybe he's doing a trick for you all, the Blinded Bug Catch He's a clever little critter you know ;)
12 December 2003, 01:20 AM
Incredible! I love him. He's very cute. Realisticly textured, but toonish body. Overall, wonderful! I'd like to see more of this guy.
oh, the animation. besides the eye thing it just looks like he's putting a little too much head forward/back movement into his strike. I haven't seen a chameleon bug catch lately, but im pretty sure it's more tongue than anything.. but then again, he's bordering realistic/toony so who knows
12 December 2003, 02:26 AM
hes got character thats fer sure man...lol,excellent renders also:thumbsup:
12 December 2003, 02:34 AM
Excellent texture and rigging!!!! loved the job guys !!!!! keep on with it !!!! I hope I can do that someday

Overall, wonderful! I'd like to see more of this guy.
I have lots of renders I did of him while doing pose tests, I'll upload some more tomorrow if anyone is interested .... for now here's one more.
You'll have to excuse him, coke makes him burp ;)
12 December 2003, 04:38 AM
I keep picturing him smoking and drinking a beer...
Very nice PiSong!!!
12 December 2003, 04:44 AM
looks totally slick!
can't wait to see the final animation!
12 December 2003, 05:38 AM
Hilarious, yet very eye-poppingly wicked stuff man! I love the expressions.
... its true ... you DO pop this stuff out quite fast!!
12 December 2003, 07:17 AM
Niiice. I admire your texture work and your ultra-economical modeling. He's soooo cute.
12 December 2003, 11:33 AM
Just beautiful PI!
Superb modelling, and the texturing is great!
And a thumbsup to T4D aswell. Looks like a really handy rig, the poses expresses lots of character (from an - in nature - so frightenly dead-looking animal as a chameleon)
Great job guys! :applause:
12 December 2003, 12:49 PM
Totally cool, PiSong! :)
I agree that he'd also look really cool in a "non-nature" setting, like perched on a barstool and snatching some beer nuts.
12 December 2003, 01:44 PM
great job!! nice colors :applause:
12 December 2003, 06:29 PM
Moe: nice to see you here, I'll whip up some renders of him in a few other environments too, I'll post them here when I get a chance to set them up, cool suggestion!
Here you go, as asked here's a few more of the earlier tests.
They aren't much different, but since you seem to like him and wanted to see some more of him here are a few more
These are all a little different, I was playing with the scene lighting and settings as I was doing tests.
These are just a result of a little pose testing and alot of goofing off :)
12 December 2003, 06:32 PM
haha that last one with the gun :buttrock: :buttrock:
12 December 2003, 06:33 PM
love the gun shot....very cool
12 December 2003, 06:35 PM
Over the top PiSong, thats awesome.
I laughed so hard people here at Wordware came over to see what I was laughing at...

I think that bump could be a little better, but the rest is just great
12 December 2003, 08:46 PM
The model looks nice (I would have said he could have been more detailed, but since this is a cartoon model it's perfect for that), but I still think he needs stronger bump mapping. This little guy just looks too smooth. His head in particular could have stronger, more defined bump mapping.
Just one other small thing that bugs me a little are the colours you've chosen. While they do look cool, you must remember that a chameleon changes its colour as a form of camoflage, so where you see flecks of purple and blue on your chameleon, you can't help but wonder why those colours are there since you don't see them in his immediate surroundings. Perhaps adding some little blossoms of those colours to the branch he is on would help to convey the idea of camo a little better :)
Nice lighting and mood though. And of course the assortment of props are funny!

This was sort of intentional, although I do agree the bump could be increased. Young panther chameleons are actually really very smooth untill they reach adolesence, where they develop dry, rough skin :D
But you are right, the bump could still be increased, thanks!

When In trees chameleons try to maintain blue and purple hues in their skin to create a look of "holes through the leaves" so they don't appear as a solid mass to predators ;)
Thanks Leigh, i'm glad you like him and his props!

I got it, if you would put some grey wings in his hair/head and give him a gold necklace, call him Paulie Walnuts... (Sopranos).. That would be a fantastic background image for windows!!!
12 December 2003, 09:29 PM
haha...awesome! glad to see some new work...great as usual man, how's that matrix project turning out?
12 December 2003, 11:03 PM
hahaha.. the last one with the gun is too funny..
and teh one with the coke too..
i really like the stylised reality you achieved with this pieces..
5 star !!
12 December 2003, 02:01 AM
Wes, I like your idea! LOL
Blinking, thanks, yeah turning out ok so far :)
Xtrm, thankyou! yeah I kinda like the stylized reality look too, I think I'll try it again with another critter :)
