This is my idea for the contest ;) Basically representing what cgsociety and 3d software is for me (and for other thousands of artists), a place to learn from, look for inspiration, stay tuned with latest news in the industry, etc and grouping the most important pieces of software which make our lifes easier day after day, or at least which helps us to make real our dreams.. So what I want to show is basically the "inside" of this concept I have from the cgsociety, a group of 10 pieces of main software ruled by the site .. hope it makes sense :D
Right now I m posing one of the 10 characters I want to include in the final render, so far itīs 75% modeled and unwrapped, so itīs time to pose him and move to the next one.. I will add the rest of details in textures, hope you like it so far ;)

Nice modelling. It seems to be coming together.

Only issue I see so far is the head and hair of the boy. The head seems off center- (maybe just the angle?) The hair seems unfinished and out of place, not like the hair of the other character, which is perfectly set to the model.

I ve finally closed some project works and will have much more time to dedicate to the contest :) I wasnīt really happy with the character studies I ve been doing, they didnīt match at all the style I m looking for my image, so I ve decided to move into another direction which I think will fit much better my goal.. I want some kind of stylized-cartoon characters, so I can add more detail to them, this is my start so far, I will finally move into this mood, hope you like it so far ;) Thanks.

fantastic model and textures so far, you've set yourself a lot of work with ten characters to finish, best of luck though, it will be great to see it come together!!

@Emptyshell, Thanks! yep, itīs going to be hard to finish everything as I want but will do my best ;)

Here is a new update, this morning I ve been moving things back to max and starting to work on the skin shader for this guy, still needs a lot of tweaks here and there (appart of course for the eyes and hair, which are missing right now), I post here some captures of the process in case anyone find them useful ;) .. This evening will start working on some of the other characters of the scene, which I ve been concepting during the weekend, so more later!

Today I want to give some background notes about the scene I m working on.. Basically I see the CgSociety as my everyday "must to visit" place, I enjoy my first coffee of the day reading interviews, news about the industry, watching videos and looking for inspiration with amazing works from other artists all around the globe,.. there are many places to look for this information but for me none as cgtalk and the society, one of the oldest and most complete sites for any artist. So, my scene will try to show this idea, the Society as a big and powerful kind of time machine and every of my 10 characters representing every of the most important softwares in the industry (I just chosed 10 of all them), the idea is to show that place where you can find awesome works done with them, and everything lit with a warm morning light .. Hope it makes sense :D

Here is a basic composition scheme I ve done with the first 3 characters unwrapped, posed and ready to be textured. It helps me too to plan the render layers I will need to render the final image of what is going to be a big scene (at least in terms of polygon numbers) ;)

Ok, here we go with the first "ready to be inserted into the scene" character.. Let me introduce you ... "MR. Vladimir Z" :D

A strong and powerful guy who is able to handle without effort millions of polys without effort, He wears a mechanic "lazy arm" which allows him to work with precission on the most intrincate tasks.. Itīs said he is in love with the misterious "dynamesh", his wife? .. his girlfriend?.. nobody knows ;)

@redCigarette: Thank you very much! Yeah itīs a true challenge because I started with a month of delay and decided to try to create a complex scene with the given time, I hope I arrive to the deadline :P

Here is a new character to the team, his name is ... "Mad MAX" hehe, he is able to solve any problem using the plugins he carries on his "heavy box", and of course, he loves tea ;)

YEAH! I did it guys! :D I finally arrived on time after a looong journey of hard work. I would like to say THANKS to everyone who followed my wips and gave me some great comments and useful feedback through all the process, I hope you all arrive on time to the deadline and I m glad to know such great artists from around the planet as you are! Best luck to everyone!!

I ve done some tweaks and adjustments on levels and exposure correction, I wanted to make the characters the center of focus and did it by playing with saturation and tones between them and the background, hope it looks better now ;)
