Hi all. Basing on ur personal experiences (surely more solid than mine) what's the best non high-end vedio card for working in 3dsmax. i refer to Ati Radeons and Nvidia Geforces out now.
I wouldn't be redundant or noisy but ur guesses are very appreciated.

Do a little research on the web on some of the lower end ones too make your Decision.

Ether a Quadro from 750XGL and up (they are rather cheap now) or a Softquadroed Geforce4 Ti from 4200 (there are some questionable reports on successful modding of FX cards on guru3d.com). The key is to get Maxtreme viewport drivers working. ATI cards seem to be more problematic.
I wouldn't pay much attention to what's "certified" but it's just my opinion.

Normally for graphics programs I would say stay away from ATI, but that's cause their OpenGL drivers suck (they're getting better bit by bit, no pun intended, but their still nothing like nVidia's), but I hear Max has a DirectX interface (which I DESPERATELY want in Maya). If you play games (and if Max's DX GUI is good and relatively unbuggy) then certainly go with a Radeon.
If you don't play games, then you shouldn't for any reason not want a "non high-end" (wow, so many negatives) that's pretty cheap, like a Quadro FX 500 or one of the cheaper FireGLs. Like I said, if you get nVidia, I would suggest using the OpenGL interface and with ATI the DX interface.
