View Full Version : Notebook Advice

Hi there

I need to buy a notebook for studying.
I'm goint to study computer science but I'm really into 3d graphics so I want to buy a notebook which gives enough performance for Maya, Mudbox and Nuke.

The new HP and Lenovo notebooks got the new I7 generation (e.g. Intel i7-3610QM).

I could get a Thinkpad T530 for about 1600$. The problem is I don't know how the performance of the NVS 5400 card is.
The other Notebook I saw (HP EliteBook 8770W) costs as twice as much but has a K4000m graphics card.

What do you think about the NVS 5400. Could I use it for Maya, Mudbox and Nuke? Or should I look for a total diffrerent card? At the 3D Mark 11 benchmark, the nvs gets only about 1200 points; the k4000m gets about 3800 points.
I didn't see any related benchmarks like cinebench, so it is hard to compare.

Best regards,
