Long tile without any posts... I was quite impressed by the work done here hehe. As I'm working on a personal model during the weekends, I wanted your advices and comments on it to improve his look. It's a low poly character but his head is high enough because i wanted to do a great morpher on his face (now i know that a 700 polies face is far enough ^^).
This is my first try of unwarping and skinning. So it takes me time to do it but i'm learning a lot.
Enough blabla... :p here is the model.
And here is the head's skinning.
I forgot to tell you he is 4352 tri.
If the head is not too bad for you guys, i will begin the body. And as i did not make a concept art before, i will be pleased to listen any sugestions abouts the colors, materials you d like to see on it.
Thanks for C&C ^_^
Merci à tout le monde ;-)

Very nice. You might also want to see how low you can drop your polycount. With the amount of beautiful detail you put into the face, I'd be willing to bet you can get it pretty low and keep the same look. Can't wait to see what his body's gonna look like.
What kind of character is he going to be?

cANt > Thx a lot master ^^ your 3D/2D Techniques helped me a lot to learn the texturing... I have still so much to learn but thanks for your help indeed ;)
Tahl'eN > Thanks for that nice suggestions :)
"I'd be willing to bet you can get it pretty low and keep the same look"
-> ok man, i will do that to lighten it a bit. So it will perhaps suit quake 3 arena ;)
"What kind of character is he going to be?"
-> it s a test character to learn the unwarping/skining. (I will use it in an animation later). It s a kind of heroic fantasy dark spearman in the look. I will also learn how to put it in a game motor like quake or unreal.
Guntharf > hep m8 ^^ Thx for the comment here. On se voit mardi plutot ;)
Thanks again for the replies, see you soon!

Glad to hear that there are still a lot of people who take benefit from it! Keep up the great work, and don't call me master 'cause I ain't ;)
That's a nice concept you got there! The thing he wrapped around his throat gives this guy a lot of character, gotta rip this idea for (all) my following models ;p *kiddin*

wow, great work m8! This guy reminds me of raziel/auron....or both of em put together :D I love the textures, now you have to tell me how to texture faces :P cuz i completley suck! :D
11 November 2003, 04:50 PM
cANt > hehe, rip it rip it ;) it s coming from japanese animations and gamez and some war clothes... Love it too ;)
proudclod > I did not get inspired by raziel at all but it s true Auron is my favorite game character. But i will check again those two characters to have ideas about materials and so on ;)
For the face, it's like evryone else i think... just a star color with a little map to give some noise. And then a multiply layer and a screener one to make the light effects... after that some hand painted details... i m happy to have comments like that for my first skinning work ;)
Thanks again for feedbacks m8's ^_^ I m gonna work the body tomorrow afternoon.

oh cANT doesnt like anime :D
I like your model but have you ever looked at the lenght of your fingers :D, well my thumb isnt longer than my other fingers.
You might want to make the thumb shorter and the fingers longer.
Other than that I don´t have any more crits allthough he doesnt look like 4352 tries, you can cut down alot in the face without haveing to fear that your morphs won´t work.
Keep it up
