View Full Version : "State-of-the-Art" Shading

I'm currently writing my Bachelor's Thesis about procedural and image-based shading.
I got one point in my Analsysis in which I want to show the current stand of the technology concerning shaders which we have today. My problem is I can only find stuff from way earlier, where all the people like Phong, Blinn, etc showed their work and which was "new" back in those days, but I cant seem to find Innovations or even the latest achievments in shading today.

Can you point out some resources?

Check out the Siggraph papers, trust me shading has come along way since blinn :P Eg,

I thought of SIGGRAPH Papers, too but I only can seem to find paid ones...is there any resource for these papers for which you do not have to pay?

Yeah maybe you are right, but many of the SIGGRAPH Papers I found on other subjects were free somewhere on the net on non-scam-sites, that's why I am asking :)

Check to see if your school is already subscribed to a research library like ACM (http://dl.acm.org/dl.cfm), they may already have access to Siggraph resources.

Otherwise it's possible to find papers on the researchers own or their university websites. Browse the technical papers for papers that look interesting and then do a google search for that paper. http://www.siggraph.org/s2011/for_attendees/technical-papers
