View Full Version : Complex parts modeling without blueprint orthogrAphics

One of the most frustrating things I encounter when modeling older vehicles and their parts is a lack of orthogonal blueprints for the auto body or engine parts, etc. for instance I'm into making the ad modes for the old g1 autobots from 70s and 80s. The problems I commonly have are low res pictures for most cars or some orthogonals not existing at all. And then there is the matter of building complex parts accurately (detailed engines,etc.). What do folks do when they run into these problems? I've been thinking about just trying to draw out the views as best as I can in sketchbook and then refine them in illustrator. Any thoughts?
