View Full Version : Making the move, “from commercial 3d software to blender” part 4 is out!

I've finished my fourth post in this series.
It contains my experiences with moving to Blender after using software like Maya, Modo and Lightwave!

Great guide!

I'm sure many new blenderers (blenderings?) will find it useful.
I'm also someone who moved from the commercial stuff to blender (my best niche was 3ds Max before).

I gotta tell you, though, there's a whole new key layout if you use "Blender 2012 experimental". It's somehow closer to Max and Maya and, despite having to re-learn (again :argh: ), I like it much better - since it allows to do most-needed key combinations with the left hand (and very close), while keeping the right hand on the mouse, without having to switch it back and forth to and from the keyboard.

That's especially relevant for anyone with an ergonomic keyboard, where it's hard to reach over to half the keys with your left hand.

I'm afraid the key short-cuts you post will become different in the future.
