View Full Version : I get blurry spots with portal light (pic included)

I'm creating a scene where I use the physical sky and the mia portal light.
It looks fine at first when it's just an empty room but then when I add my model i want to use in the scene and render it wit mental ray it shows blurry wierd spots everywhere.
Somebody knows the problem? :P

Possible concentration of light causing hotspots. Using Final Gather? Turn Filter under FG Quality to 1. See if that helps.

Are you using an area light for your portal, or a spotlight/pointlight perhaps? Do you have "Suppress all Maya shaders" checked?

What do your Portal Light's attributes look like? Here's a general working setup, with photons on but that's only if you're using GI as well, obviously:

It doesn't seem like your Portal Light is connected properly somehow; those FG rays should be concentrated through your Portal Light and eliminate most of the blotchies as a result - that's the purpose of the Portal Light, of course.

How many Portals are you using here, just one?
