hello fletchman..
i like it too ..
but he still look a bit to boxy for my tast ?
you used box modelling ? right ?
try to give him a more organic/rounded shape..
and you would have something great to start :-)

Hi Chris,

Thanks. I did use box modeling. Could you tell me which area I could make it more rounded? I can see one area..the head. i will try to work on it. Thanks again. :wavey:

His back muscles are a little too over developed. Unless you are going for a highly stylized humanoid form, I would some anatomy references to help you with your character's body.
Also, from the side view he appears very off balance; he's leaning forward to far. You'll need to position him so that his head and torso are positioned over the heels of his feet. The way he's standing now, he looks like he would fall over.
I also think that he needs to be a little more rounded, but I feel you've really got yourself a good start with this character.
Keep working on it and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Locutus (or is it Jean Luc Picard?),

Thanks for your comments. I will post revisions soon and also the other character in the short.

Hi Folks,

Managed to squeeze in time and modified the character based on your suggestions:

I like this char! he's funny!:)

I'd pay lil' more attention in the back area, pulling some points inside. its a bit too developed, if you see from the side view. other areas with some prob are the area of the leg just under the gluteus, it seems to bulge a bit. the ankle needs some tweaking.

Ciao from Italy!!:)

i agree with nemoid..
but still way better as the first pose..
you are macking progress.. are on the right way ..

Hi Andrew,

I see that you post your WIP here too. From the side view, the legs look kind of thick, same goes for the chest. You are going to have problem animating the arms. THere is no joint from the upperarm to the forearm for it to bend properly. This is what I meant....
You can apply the same to the leg too.

Keep going! :wavey:

Hi Folks,

Managed to revise the character as pre advise:

Thanks, I am glad you liked the character. I have tweaked the back muscles, rear leg and ankles.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. We still have yet to have that coffee.

I have adjusted the joints on the arms and thinned the legs abit.

Please let me know what you think.

Awesome progress, man!!
From the side he looks more balanced.
However, his legs are too thick around the knee area. Also, his ankles arent' placed properly. Get a book on anatomy for artists or look at your own body in the mirror and observe the locations of muscle and joints on your body.
There are two bones in the lower leg; the Tibia, which is what you feel when you rub your shins, and the Fibula, which runs along the outer side of the leg and slightly behind the Tibia.
Where these two bones meet the bones of the foot are where the ankles are located. The bulges of the ankles are the ends of the Tibia and Fibula.
On your character the ends of the Tibia and Fibula are up too high on the leg.
Get yourself a book on anatomy for artists, it will help you tremendously.
You're doing a great job, keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Locutus,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will probably get a book this weekend. I also want to remodel the body from scratch that way I can make the proper imprvements. This body was used from a generic body I modelled some time ago. Thanks again for your imput.
