Hello Everyone, my name is Nareg Kalenderian and this is my demo reel of 2011, created during the period of that year.
This was a personal reel created by myself during little spare time :), it was again created in the form of a short cinematic trailer.
I would like to thank you all for taking the time to view it, and a special thank you to CGsociety for hosting these great forums.
As always best wishes and thanks,

Tiny little nit to pick in the shot with the candles. I feel like there should be a little variation in how the flames flicker. That they should move generally in the same way, but there are always little air currents that make them not entirely uniform. That was the only little unnatural-feeling thing.
Thanks for sharing the reel. It sets the bar high! :)

Simply mind-blowing work...
This should be a world wide inspirational piece of art.
We can indeed criticize any detail in this work the way we want; however, at the end of the day, only true artists will know the hard work and the unique talent that NAREG KALENDERIAN has once again shown in this reel. I have never seen any artist who is a great modeler and is able to have great lighting, texture, animation (You name it...) skills.
You inspire me Sir, and this deserves a world wide attention.

I was just wondering how many month did this take you to render?

Nick, Kara, William, Thank you.
Please allow me to copy and paste what I had written in another forum regarding the same question:
"This took around 6 to 7 months of render times on 2 desktop machines (with a third machine added during the last 3 months) running on average 6 days a week when possible 12 -18 hours, they couldn't run 24 hours and there were so many setbacks and delays due to very random power cut outs in the country for 3 to 4 hours a day everyday to this day, sometimes whole days, and the backup generators were most of the time unreliable.
The actual work was completed in around the first 7 months (spare time) but the other half of the year was mostly spent only waiting on renders, troubleshooting mental ray and endless power cut outs" : )
This is a great Reel that I have enjoy it to the last second. Great execution in this animations that I just watch.

Remember being awe-struck by your previous reel, and this one is even better. You seem to master not only modelling, animation, texturing and lighting, but also art directing. Working on my own spare-time project at the moment, I don't even understand how all this is humanly possible in such a short time-span. Well done!

Wow excellent. I loved the Armour on the guys on the ships and the designs of the natives was awesome.
