Im trying to make an iMac and im struggling getting a nice smooth curved back plate for it. I know its the topology im using as its creating artifacts on render, i.e to many line to gether creating flat faces. I have even looked on turbo squid and other sites just to get a idea of how other people have dont the topology to try an improve mine. This has rased me a few more questions than answers. I have even downloaded a model and tried to backwards enginer it but again rasies questions.
Ill start by showing an image of someone elses topology, fig 1 below, in the stack it shows no turbo smooth but by looking at it im right to say this has been turbo smoother right? This persons topology is so smooth coming out of the corners, where mine fig 2 and fig 3 i can only get straight lines and any curves i do make then make it impossiable to control the curve of the back plate as the verts are all over the place. I know getting good topology is the key to a great model, so please any pointers would be great.
One last thing on inspecting other models it looks like a lot of people turbo smooth an object then boolean detail once the stack it collapsed, is this common practice or people been very lazy?
Any points how to improve would be a big help, i always have issues with curves and what to deal with them once and for all.
