View Full Version : Game Models: knights & Skeletal Warriors

11 November 2003, 03:19 PM
Hi folks, long time i didn't post here :)

This is my entry for a comp over Cgchat. Well, here's the images i've done, enjoy.

The second model i did, the black Knight, a kind of acher :). he have one texture sheet of 256 (i make the original at 1024) and 499 tris (so 500).

11 November 2003, 03:21 PM
the first model i did, maybe the most interesting :). In my gallery, you will see that is kinda like a skully warriors i have done in a drawing.

It also have one sheet of 256 and the orginal was made at 1024.

11 November 2003, 03:25 PM
the building i did for the comp.

and his concept, done in a few minutes.

11 November 2003, 03:28 PM
All the models i textured. At the right, the big one, another i did :)
He have also a 1024 texture sheet and he is only 720 polygons (triangles).

You can se that the archer have a simple red skin. They are all from the same team.

11 November 2003, 03:31 PM
another nice image. Maybe, a "in mind game shoot".

11 November 2003, 03:36 PM
And a last image for now. If you want to see wireframe, texture sheets etc, just only go to:

Wip thread: here you will find wires and other models i did around 500 tris.

these would be neat to see inside warcraft III :D

11 November 2003, 06:41 PM
Thanks ambient-whisper, i did those models with that kind of game in mind :).

11 November 2003, 06:50 PM
yeah, i really like those, not sure about the big one, but i really like skeleton.

11 November 2003, 06:51 PM
very good!

the models remind me of Zelda :D i don't know why but they would fit in the game :applause:

11 November 2003, 09:09 PM
I feel like your Black Knight Archer is the strongest character. Some of the proportions on the Skeleton feel a little strange. Its not bad, but the legs feel a little strange being completely bare.

The Third, big guy, is pretty interesting, but honestly I don't think any stand up in comparison to your Black Knight.

11 November 2003, 08:29 AM
really great work :)

11 November 2003, 08:36 AM
ye... this is cool stuff !!:buttrock: :buttrock:

11 November 2003, 08:46 AM
What i can say?
it looks clean and the texture is really nice and shiny. What i like is the knight. It looks cute. :applause:

11 November 2003, 08:50 AM
I can't see any there a problem?

11 November 2003, 06:47 PM
Thanks to all, mates :)

geronimo_x: i really don't know, other people can, and i can also. The server where i have locate the images is quite slow, do you use 56k??

onscreen, GFX-Arts, kueQ: thank you very much.

MajinPunisher: yeah hehe :), he is the more stronger ^^. they are super-deformer, for a RTS type of game.

Zoomie: are you a fan of Zelda? i'm a fan ^^, but only from snes game and gba. now i think... a skeleton with sword and shield was the stalfos knights. it would be nice to see this kind of models in a 3d game inspired in legend of zelda. A dungeon siege ^^

random.hero: the skeleton is also my fav :). i did a lot of effort with him.

cheers :wavey:

I really like these models.

-Black Knight: He looks like a bad MOFO. His helmet is über!
Maybe he's a bit short or maybe it only looks like that because he's so strong?

-Squeletal Warrior: I like this one too, hate meeting these
creatures in games 'cause they always resurrect :) His legs look especially good, but I think you should seperate the bones in the
arms from the elbowjoint. Then it would look great.

-Dark Castle: This one looks great too. I miss some general damage though and maybe some details at the lower part of it. Some stones, maybe barrels. Why not even a donkeycart?

-Huge Guy:Sorry, Didn't like this one. Think he looks too mutated or something.

One last question: Why did you use the SS logo on the castle and the black knight?

11 November 2003, 09:15 PM
Thanks mikademius,

The double sparks or SS is for the evil factor. In this case the symbol have the meaning of power, like the rune of "S" or spark denotes (Scandinave runes, i believe). So, double power :). I like the symbol, simply.

The huge guy is a golem, a mutation as you said of a dark knight (not textured).

11 November 2003, 10:53 PM
Probably some runes yes, but I was thinking of the Nazipolice during WW2 :) But hey, even the cross hitler used was actually an old vikingsymbol. People just tend to jump every time they see them...

11 November 2003, 01:14 AM
The only crit I have is that the big one looks lik ehe's flippin me off... :)

11 November 2003, 04:40 PM
wow :) the unique critic, anyone have any more suggestion? hehe

C&C are wellcome.

11 November 2003, 04:50 PM
More units, vehicles, castles.. i want this game man!! :-)

11 November 2003, 05:41 PM
Excellent work.

11 November 2003, 08:55 AM
I'm also a bit allergic to the "SS" symbol - but anyway they are cool models.

11 November 2003, 07:46 PM
thanks boys :)

I also want to see a game with this kind of characters :p

11 November 2003, 08:54 PM
Then why don't you create one? Send those models to some
gamecompanies. You never know...

11 November 2003, 03:36 AM
good job :wise:

I think you all have no clue of history as a whole. Just because one psychopathic maniac decided to use tutonic symbols as a part of his army, doesn't mean the symbols are bad. Symbols like these were used by Vikings and other Nordic culture WAY before that certain idiot did. I think being on a medieval character is perfectly ok.

11 November 2003, 04:29 AM
great work man! superb!

i really like to see these chracters in a really nice game environment.

go on man:thumbsup:

Very nice models, but be careful with the SS-Sign. Think about what they did in WWII and don't play down there cruelties.

11 November 2003, 10:05 AM
I dont know about you guys but i wanna see more.. more characters and buildings and stuff, that is..

Maybe you can contact someone to build the game, if you havent got the skills or the time to do it yourself.. if knew how to do it, i would be glad to have those models in my game :-)

11 November 2003, 01:31 PM
hey!! nice models dude!! very cool
the only crit i have:
change those ss signs!! they are really not done!
I dont think these models gave anything to do with ww||

11 November 2003, 02:11 PM

The SS Symbol is a problem. In a german forum you would not longer be a member if you post such stuff. And it is forbidden by law (only in a historical context). Sure these symbols may be used before bud that means nothing. Put a t-shirt with SS or swastika on an walk thru a German or Europen town, then you will learn about the meaning of this symbols. And I promise , you will have no time to explain some Wikings used it 5000 jears before.

Ok, your models are great stuff!

And neither do the symbols. They are tutonic symbols, NOT nazi police symbols. please people, read your history books or do some research before making such broad and uneducated statements...its really annoying. :banghead: Yes they were used in WW2 to symbolize a very bad group of people in history, but the reason they used them is because of there historic and religious meaning...he figured using the sun wheel (swaztika) and the SS (symbol of power) that it would give his army an almost "holy" advantage over others. I think people are too sensitive to this stuff because they only know the bad thing it was used for, not the actual historic and religious meaning of those symbols.

Already heard about semiotics?
Symbols are empty cases filled with meanings. The BAD Meaning of WWII is FOREVER integrated in the meaning of all SS-Sign created after WWII!!!

As a CG Artist you have the duty to express you unmistakable. So if you want to use this symbols with other meanings it has to be done without explainations.

11 November 2003, 06:28 PM
too many thanks boys for all the feedback.

Mikademius: i would like to so a RTS game with this kind of models, but over the net is impossible to do it. Send work to gamecompanies is a good choice, but if i'm accepted i must relocate with them (they want me to work for their projects first), and i can't do that for now :(

charithmax: me too hehe :)

I don't know why german people are so suceptible with this kind of "icons". Maybe for a bad education, they should know that their grandparents, in the better or bad of the cases, they were ss soldiers or something (that not means that they were bad people). In all the wars there are bad things, just look now foward irak (i hope usa flag don't be a hated symbol as swasticas... in the morocks countries it is something very bad tolerated and just watch the TV over the conflict in irak). It is their past, simply, and not a question to get ungry. i will keep out all this comments, instead of that, look at the skull logo. Forgive the political meaning, is just only art :(

i have upload some images. I'm rebuilding my gallery.

this is the big golem, with some mazilla and metalic parts. Very organic.

A render i did for test of this guys...

11 November 2003, 06:28 PM

This was another guy i did, but i didn't texturize it. He is around 450 tris, and i have some set with this base model with some kind of weapons such as a martel.

PD: nazi german games such as Call of Duty are introduced in Germany?? i'm curious, i know they say to put the blood not red in games...

11 November 2003, 07:51 PM
wow, didn't mean to start a hazzle about the symbol. I was only curious. Dang...
Nuff said about that case. Give it a rest.
Could you try to seperate the bones between the elbowjoint,
just for me. I think it will look better...

edit: Second look made me want to see the kneejoint seperating
the bones in the legs too.

11 November 2003, 10:23 PM
I have to say I love the textures on these. The textures are so good IMO that you almost forget they are VERY low res models. Great job. I would love to see a low res Dragon!! ;)

11 November 2003, 01:51 AM

mikademius: each limb are one pieze. i cant separate bones :). If i would do that, the polycunt of the mesh would be increased a bit.

VWTornado: a dragon?? hehe, i'm now in the comp #15 and i'm making this :D. It seems you have readed into my mind :), not winged but nice.

11 November 2003, 10:22 AM

quote from vwtornado:
And neither do the symbols. They are tutonic symbols, NOT nazi police symbols. please people, read your history books or do some research before making such broad and uneducated statements...its really annoying.

your right! the symbols were not nazi from origin! But when people see these they immediatly compare it with this war.
About what do you think when i say twin towers?? extactly: 9-11
it is the same!!these two things call up bad memory's and that's what counts, and your fist thought is not:a symbol for power or a big office center!thats for sure!

Maybe you are the one who has to think first.. (with all respect for your opinion of course!!)

btw: I dont' have to read my history books again..
and sorry for my bad english: makes it hard to defend my opinion!!

11 November 2003, 10:26 AM
i like i like.

you should try to make a new race design for warcraft or something.

11 November 2003, 04:47 PM
