hello ppl!

maybe someone could explain me how I could do this srached metal look in XSI? I found this pic somewhere on the internet and I don't remember what software was used to make it.

A reflective material with a bump map that looks like straight record grooves. (Which you could make in photoshop pretty easliy)

I thought that there is some sort of shader to do this. Bump maps will lead to some extreme render times :hmm:
texturing polys is really pain in the ass :annoyed:

use a procedural map with a spacial projection, i think a stretched fractal could be a good start...

Anisotropic shading might work for you too.
