View Full Version : Freeze Fluids or nParticles but keep its collision available?

Hi everyone,

I' m preparing to do a simple animation with cloud.
There should be a still cloud. Then a bird fly through it and collide a hole in the cloud.

However, I got a problem.. I can't make the cloud freeze while its collision function is OK.

For example, I may freeze Fluids by using keyframes between Dynamic Grids and Static
Grids or just using cache. It makes Fluid particles frozen indeed, but it can't be collided
with objects anymore. It happened to nParticles too. When I use some ways to make
nParticle stop, its collision doesn't work at the same time.

Does anyone know how to do it? Thx a lot!

Maybee you can try this method.

Get the cloud setup as you want it, then take the bouyancy down to 0 and set the damping to 1, play a few frames until it settles and then make a inital state on the fluid.

Now set the damping to 0 and go ahead with the collision from you object.

Just made a test and it works here atleast.
