View Full Version : Looking for a cleaner way...

I'm having trouble with this area. It renders fine, but the mesh is not as clean as I would like it, I know there has to be a better way.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for areas like these? I come across these situations a lot while modeling, and it would be awesome if I could find a cleaner way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So many different ways to approach this, so my solution is just one many. However, it reduces the number of polygons, and evades the use of any triangles.

Then again, for mechanical objects like your example, your mesh looks clean enough as well. Triangles are not necessarily evil ;-)

Btw, the new Bmesh system makes the modeling process so much more comfortable. Have you tried the new knife tool? Awesome, even in its early state.
