View Full Version : mr render flag question

How do I set the Minimum Sample Level for mr command line rendering?
In the manual, they state that -mss is the maximum # of samples, but it doesn't state how to set the Minimum Sample Level (or which of the other flags controls the min).

the -mss is only valid for maya software renderer. For mentalray there is no such commandline switch.

Do you know if the render globals can be set during command line render using a pre-render script? IE:
setAttr "miDefaultOptions.minSamples" 0;
setAttr "miDefaultOptions.maxSamples" 2;
setAttr miDefaultOptions.contrastR 0.2;
setAttr miDefaultOptions.contrastG 0.2;
setAttr miDefaultOptions.contrastB 0.2;
setAttr miDefaultOptions.contrastA 0.2;

EDIT: These commands can be used as prerender commands.

Yes, thats possible.

But you can extend the command set of the render.exe yourself. It reads an xml file located in bin/rendererDescr and is called mrRenderer.xml. The syntax is quite easy and there you can add your own lines.
