HELLo everyone!
My main idea is very simple - create a brutal man who is going to arrange a total chaos in hell. Evil vs. evil! Concept coming soon

Here my concept. The final version will be very soon.
++++++++++++ (

Dam it Marat! you've turned me into such a fan boy.
Each character you come up with just gets better and better. I love the distribution of volume, the spaces you left for me to rest my eys with low level of detail, the way you stylized his body, keeping him strong but agile. There is a very hard and edgy quality to all you work (something I tried to pick up on), the design of the weapons and armor are just right, kinda over the top but not ridicules.
Once I calm dwon I'll see if i can give any constructive C&C.

02-06-2012, 08:40 AM
... this guy's gonna kick our all butts!

02-06-2012, 09:11 AM

@Daniel - hehe, good comment mate!

Close up (head)

02-06-2012, 01:16 PM
I love the gritty and powerful look, great concept paints... I can hear him say: "I hope you like pain!"
Keep it coming!

02-06-2012, 02:07 PM
This guy would make a incredible comic book character. I love it it!
This face is awesome but....I still feel you lost a bit of the hawk like quality to the face. His nose got a little pudgy and sits a little lower down on the face, and his features in general are a little softer.
God I wish I could jump into this brawl, this is going to be sick. :buttrock:

The concepts looks so cool Mara. The second one is really good and it has a mysterious feeling. But be careful with the lack of natural proportions and lack of R shoulders in the first concept. :)

I was wondering where were you hidden working on your concept... I can see now. Congratulations, great modelling here. Maybe one of the most impressive wip works I've seen.

03-27-2012, 12:08 PM
fantastic this competition is getting interesting.

really? ...I think it's over! :D even at this stage...

concept was amazing, so I felt it will be very hard to get all the detail needed for this model. but your on the right way and in the end this will be a killer entry. just like the title ^^

03-27-2012, 01:02 PM
wow, nice modeling and a lot of assets. hope you get the texture-work right.

Cool Marats, I hope you finish all the texture in time!

04-10-2012, 04:32 PM
Very Nice! haha, and only 38.8 Mil Poly count... LOL

04-10-2012, 04:52 PM
Am I right or am I wrong - what is here modeled in the program MudBox - you Used 3dmax and Vray to lighting??
where is MudBox??
MudBox you will use for painting or what??

04-10-2012, 05:23 PM
awesome details.. i love it.

my computer could barely handle 2 million quads... i just couldn't imagine how cool it would be to be able to work with 38!

04-10-2012, 06:05 PM
Hey guys, a bunch of thanks to everybody

@bern20 :) No problem man. Check it out - Mudbox Mats & Divs (
@Ballo - I'll hope too
@BryanWalther - yeah, with weapons is approximately 44 mil
@tswalk - I use the workstation with Nvidia Quadro

04-10-2012, 08:02 PM
wow. outstanding work so far.
hope you can finish textures, shaders etc.
canīt wait for your final

04-10-2012, 08:26 PM
you gave only structure for the previously modeled shapes - Is your work you can not replace the usual mapping? - difuse - bump - dispalacement - this is nothing surprising about -if it is not in the competition to show that this program is not just for painting and mapping - I think it is not sculpting that what you do - You sculped in 3dsmax - your basic model is too detailed - it is drill texture - maybe I am wrong, maybe not

04-10-2012, 08:27 PM
I hate you :D Impressive work, I hope you have already started texturing... There's a ton of work there...

04-10-2012, 08:52 PM
I agree with bern20 (

04-10-2012, 10:10 PM
Maybe I'm no one to reply you guys, Mudbox is a tool and you're right, is the strategic tool for this challenge. Anyways, and although Marat did put a lot of detail on his work, there's detail that can be done in max, at least on a reasonable performant computer, and this is when Mudbox comes in.

At the end, this is not a speed sculpting competition to see who get's the best out of a sphere. You must do the best image you can using Mudbox as your primary tool for sculpting and painting.

I see sculpting on his entry, hes sculpting is ellegant and not appreciable at first sight. Which is somethng quite amazing. Mudbox gives Painkiller a subtle touch, a subtle and stunning touch to what I'd say is already a master piece.

Moreover, and this is where I might be wrong and get kicked, I think that this is the correct approach to mesh detail. It will give the best result when rendering out of the box, it's quite low in polys at the end for proffesional pipelines other than realtime, games etc... and to finish, I can't even imagine how you unwrap the UVs of something like that ^^

I'd have done my entry more like this one if I could work a bit faster. I hope that experience brings me speed and quality equally.

04-11-2012, 01:12 AM
I am stunned by the meticulous detail poured into this. Not to mention the concept art made me (excuse my language) shit bricks.

For those of you debating whether or not Mudbox is being used enough here's my two cents. I agree with lapsusmental.
It's impossible to model the really high-poly-details this piece contains in a regular 3D-packages like Maya or 3DSMax. And he hasn't really posted any of the texturing yet as I've seen which is bound to come.
General workflow is to make a proper basemesh with good topology to be able to accentuate details at wanted areas and you cannot create basemeshes (except for those that come with the program and they would prove quite useless to depict the concept he's aiming for in this case) in Mudbox. Period. There are no retopology tools either if you suddenly want to change the edgeflow around the lips for example. That's why they have a couple of nice buttons for sending between the different Autodesk Suite Programs.

Finishing up. Holy hell do I want to see this finished! :D

04-11-2012, 06:42 AM
Amazing work! Really inspiring, all those details... I have no words...:applause:

04-11-2012, 04:53 PM
do not agree with the previous threads
look at my thread - I do model only in the MudBox

it is possible :)

04-11-2012, 08:42 PM

hey, i see what do you mean, but the challenge is not in creating a character and render of it solely in Mudbox, but in collaboration of software that artist/participant prefer, mostly in Mudbox ofcourse(despite the artist's taste:) since Mudbox primarily is a sculpting and painting package, then the sculpting and painting work must be done in Mudbox, and the basemesh for it - in program of artist's preference. i think, they made it clear in challenge FAQ.
if you can create a full textured character solely in Mudbox, then that's only a plus for you, but not a must for everyone.

great work, man
would like to see it textured:)

04-11-2012, 09:16 PM
you're right
I should not judge - but since this program is relegated to the background - and not a program where you can do self-image
sad and confused thinking :(

04-13-2012, 10:21 PM
... i for one am waiting patiently for final post ...

time is ticking man, yer drivin' me crazy here :)

04-14-2012, 06:36 AM
hey man 20 minutes left

04-16-2012, 05:05 PM
Ey Marats, did you finish it? please do it! :)
