thought I just post something i created some 8months ago.
..thankfully, I`ve learnt one thing or two since then!

rendered using the def.scanline in maya.

critiques always welcome.

btw, I`m currently on a laptop, and since I`m not quite
used to the screen, the levels may be a bit off.

This is exceptional work bro, I love the atmosphere...

Lighting is superb, detail is crazy and the whole mood you set is intriguing...My only crit is that piece of paper in the right hand corner...It's blurred out but sort of throws off the picture to me...

But that's a minor crit, so it really doesn't matter...Again this is an incredible piece and hopefully you should get alot more replies, you definitely deserve it...
ruM's OUT...

I really like this.

The blur to the objects just adds to the composition, works really well.

If this was 8 months ago, i'd love to see some more recent work.

Whoa. I love it very cool lightning.

thnx for replies!

I agree about the paper-blur, I remember strugling
to get the blur right, but never quite right though.

..actually, I`m working on a hi-detailed short, wich will
run about max.2minutes, will post some of the scenes
in the future on this board.

..i really got to change my nick, hate the " 3d " part.

Hey....I remember this image. I used to use TrueSpace and you made an animation in TrueSpace of that scene first. I loved it then and it looks even better now rendered in maya :bounce:

thnx! hehe, busted! yep, that`s correct.

everyone has a dark past, or what ?
..thankfully, that`s a long time since now.

great app to start with 3d though.

just checked out the old caligari-site, the anim.still lies
there! ah, nostalgia..

makes me download the tS demo just for the heck of it!

have a great weekend all,

the scene is pretty nice. I enjoyed it quite a bit. the blur seems off, almost like it's a DoF blur instead of a motion blur. maybe you could increase the speed of the paper fly-by to make the blur streaking stronger? Also, you might consider changing the angle of the chair's rotation so it appears to be thrown about and not just hovering in space. good work!

Awesome lighting, mood, texturing, shading, and I kinda like the blur. This is incredible, especially for Maya default renderer (which we all know isn't the best).

This is awesome! great work. I love the greyscale, the layout and the balance to the scene. Great topic too. The eery feel carries across very well

This is quite easily one of the best pieces of work I've seen so far on CgTalk. I just love it, the atmosphere, mood and quality of detail.

thnx.for replies guys!

Drakaran: thnx.agree about some of you`r points, thought
this is a rather old picture, and since I`ve deleted the originall
files, changes are a bit to late.

Novagok: thnx! actually, the scanline in maya ain`t that
bad if you put some effort into lighting and shading. You
can do some incredible shading via the hypershade ..!

Pi3141: thnx.! love you`r recent caricatures of Marilyn M. and
was i Michael J.? good stuff.

hackie! thnx.what i mean by def. is actually just default. so no
magic new technique with" def.scanline" checked out you`r anim
a while ago, good stuff. a couple of the shots are awesome!
..inspiring indeed.

theDon: thnx.! cool that you like it, although it`s cinda old.

thnx.all for replies,
