View Full Version : mix20layer crashing Maya 2011 64bit.

Anybody have any idea why when ever I try rendering with the Mix20Layer in mental ray, it's giving Maya a fatal error right away and crashing Maya? I just have a fast sss skin shader on it, and it's on preview settings for final gather. Everything renders fine until a throw on the Mix 20 Layer.

I haven't tried other versions of Maya yet. It is 64 bit version so anything to do with how it's compiled for that? I'm on an i7 core, sandy bridge, and have 8 gigs of ram, so I doubt it's hardware, but if anybody knows of anything...

It does it with the in window render and the batch render as well.

Anybody have any ideas?

Ok, so it seems to work in 32 bit. And I tried deleting prefs in 64 bit. Any ideas why it's just crashing in 64 bit?

Sounds like you need a 64bit version. There's one in the link above.

I tried the 64 bit version of the Mix8Layer I found there (Didn't see a mix 20) but that crashes too. At least it's not Maya and it actually starts rendering the scene but when it gets to the part of the image that has the mix8layer applied, it mental ray crashes at that point in a fatal error.

Is it just that it isn't compiled for 64 bit anywhere which is why it's crashing?

Works fine in maya 2012 for me.
