View Full Version : low poly metaballs

Wondering if anyone could help me out here. I have a very simple grid cloner with a sphere going through a metaball object. My intention here is to make it look like an undulating low poly cloud. (I know there are probably many ways of going about doing this, but this is the path I'm following right now)

Here is the problem. Everything looks great when I do a test render in the viewport. I've deleted the phongtag to get hard edges, played round with the metaball and sphere geo settings etc. But as soon as I render in the picture viewer or set up a batch render the metaballs smooth out and become high poly.

Feels like a bug to me.

Wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and might know how to solve it..

You didn't happen to forget to set the Render Subdivision of your MetaBall Object to the same number as the Editor Subdivision, did you ?

That was it!! I had a serious case of 3d mental freeze there, thank you so much for the help!!
