Hi all,
Three months ago I started learning Maya and to that purpose I started three different scenes. This was the first one.

Outstanding work! I really like the texturing. My only problem is that it's a bit dark, but that may be intentional.

looks awesome.

what did you do to get the little dust particles in the light?

i assume you had worked in 3D prior to learning maya? or are you saying this is your first project in 3D? i hope not. hah

Great work. Only critique I have is that I can't quite pin down the depth of field. Some parts of the spanner and some parts of the scorpion are in focus, but not one specific point. Detracts from an otherwise lovely image.

Looking forward to seeing those other scenes!

Valandar: it was darker before when I posted it on the WIP section, now is still dark, and it's intentional as if it where and old and gloomy garage.

Jelloshotrule: I Photosheated it using two layers, one with soft transparent gradients for the light beams, another on dissolve mode for the particles. I will have to actually render them when I do my animations, so we will see...
And yes, sorry for the misunderstanding, I have been working using max for a year, you can see my early beginnings at: www.maxmare.com

mattmos: You have a good eye, I used the Z-channel to apply the DOF, but didn't like everything so I cheated a bit, take your point though.
