I like this style. The background is great, and I don't think I've seen anyone else do a portrait quite like this one. Perhaps the lighting is a bit off in the left one, as the darkest shadow is on her right side along with the strongest source of light being on the right side as well.

Thanks for you comment... I'm going to work a bit more on the lighting - the picture is about hiding physical abuse and I think I can make that a little bit more clear with some more work on it.
