View Full Version : Nuke Reformat and AE reformat

Hi ! I have a problem.I have a plate at 1024 x 576 square pixels.I reformated the frame at PAL 720 x 576 1.09 . The problem is that the frame don't match 100% with the same frame "reformated" in AE style. It's a very small diffrence.Anybody knows why?

Thanks ! But the AE is set up to interpret the pixels as 1.09. What is your conclusion?

PS: What i mean is that AE is allready set to interpret the footage with 1.09 ratio. I would work with square pixels if it was my call. But everybody is using here AE, and i am the only one with nuke, so it's a bit harder to stand up against all studio :)

What's different about them? Is it getting cropped or squished or is it just a sampling difference?

From nuke to ae, it's getting a bit scaled up on Y (vertically). I told my colleague that is a subpixel operation difference, but i want to be sure.

Is your Resize Type set to Distort in Nuke? I just did a test and at 100% zoom there is no discernible difference between Nuke resizing and AE resizing.

I've just use a reformat node with PAL 1.09 preset, with resize type to width and black outside. There is a very small difference.Originally, the plate was 1024 x 576.

It looks like Nuke and AE round to different values when you reformat. If you reformat and letterbox it in Nuke it has sharp pixels on the edge of the letterbox. If you do the same in AE there is a half-pixel blur. AE scales the image 76.9% in X and Y, but if you scale Y down to 76.7% they match much better.

Thank you very much.
