Hey all,
Well this is going to be a strange one to explain.
The main idea behind this is that there is a center mass which has a negative gravity force (it repells). But this mass has, for lack of a better word, strings which hold onto other masses of rock(or the likes). There are a few of these masses attached by the strings, all of which use the energy from the center mass for the stability of life. kinda like the sun.
I want to show the rock to be quite raw like this cool lava pic I found as a reference:

And The center mass to be more energy based and have a similar look as this:

The rocky mass I am thinking about making it more cave like so I ca show a nice natural looking theatre formation to imply somthing went on here with a lot of things watching.

And I love the work of John Salvatore Wallin Liberto (http://www.johnwallin.net/) and think the atmosphere doing something similar to this will bee cool. Obvioulsy more of an alien atmosphere though.

And finally I really love fish eyelense images, And I think with the long strings and distances involved I will get some nice distortion which will help with the uneasy feeling of this image.
Hopefully I can post a real rough out of the concept I want in a couple of hours but would love to get some feedback on the idea
Cheers

Im not to sure about the space helmet. Its sposed to be me (or whoever) standing there thinking the thing in the brief. I added it so that I could get some good close up detail and have nice reflections from the visor to add to the fisheye lense look :hmm:

Good use of reference pictures, it really helps to envision what you're thinking about. I like your concept piece so far, maybe just a little more refinement on it.
You mentioned "strings" or something holding it down, but in your concept piece it looks more like it's errupting from the center of the floor.
I don't know, maybe I misread something. I do like the idea though, and your concept piece is pretty cool so far. I look forward to seeing this progress.

You think the helmet is too much, I am unsure.

wow, lookin good. I like your use of reference photos.
Concept sketch looks very nice, just one thing though, what is that round thing in the foreground in the bottom left? I only ask because it's kind of destracting.
Once again, very nice sketch though

Hey Morlankey
Its was going to be a Nasa style space helmet, to give a detailed foreground and to have the refelections on the orangy tintied visor but I am seriously reconsidering. You say It distracts from the environment so yeah I think Ill remove it.
Cheers for the comment.

I know this is a very rough sketch and its the first one, but I'll tell you what I see now so you'll have something better for your next post:
-First I agree with Morlankey; get rid of the helmet, and if you just need to have it forget about NASA and make your own design.
-It could be just me but so far the center mass looks like the "monolithic artifacts known as the Khaydarin Crystals" *from Blizzard's Starcraft game.
-The rocky mass ...well it's a collliseum with a gap. You even kept the multiple arcs :shame:
-Last, as it has been written in the instructions, I most remind you "This is a massive and grand area" so I recomend a more open area or a diferent perspective. Maybe turning around the rocky mass so you can see the horizon.
Ok, thats it. Hope you can use some of the crap I just wrote.
You can always get even by judging my work :deal:
My sketches, just let it all out! (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99243)
And remember: "what you’re trying to achieve is something never seen or experienced before"
Good luck!

Thanks neospartan,
Its nice to get a little feed back, I havent hadlot of time on this so far but I have lots planned. What has been great is commenting and getting involved with other peoples threads and through that I have gain more idea.
- Yep I have decided to loose the helmet
- I see your point about the "massive and grand area" and how this doesnt forefull it. Im going to have to work on it with moving things round.
Im going to keep the idea and try to mix it up. I really apreciate the feed back tho, and I will check out your work now.
:)
