View Full Version : Transformers fan movie: "The key to vector sigma"
Hello everyone.
During last few weeks we had some development with our project. We got the script from Eric Barnett who did a great job writing it. The movie is suposed to be about 20-30 minutes long which is a challenge. Some scenes include new models that have to be made but not as complex as transformers models. We started working on the 1st 2 min scene ( pre viz is almost finished) of the movie which will also be used as a version of a movie trailer.
We are in need of some serious help in order to finish this movie within reasonable time period. We hope there are people who are passionate about transformers and who always wanted to work on the movie but never got the chance. Here is your chance now to work with people around the world in bringing this movie to the light. We are looking for:
a) Concept artist
b) 1-2 Modelers and texturing artist
c) 1-2 People for visual effects
d) 2 good Animators
e) for later production compositing artist
If anyone is interested in any of stated positions pm me with your portfolio and skype info and i will contact you.
We know it is hard to get help when it is non paying project but we would appreciate any help you guys could possibly offer. Working on such project is certanly good for anyones resume. We hope to get the movie in best quality as possible.
Also i have to mention that Eric will be filming shots in Toronto. And we also have few good animators wiling to work with us.
You can have a look at our thread in WIP section to see which Transformer robots we already made.

Took a look at your modelers work on the Bumblebee character. Very nice. :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:
We don't have all the details up on our site yet, but put simply, softdistortion.com is donating vfx planning, and consulting to select indie/short film makers who can't afford to hire a facility but need advanced vfx integration. If that's of interest contact me here or email in my sig>
BTW, You have a link to any of Eric's film work? Would like to see what he does in TO. ;)
Thanks softdistortion.
I haven't posted here for some time, will try to post more frequently.
We got offers from people to help and we now have few more on board. Bumblebee is being rigged and soon fx work on the 1st scene will start.
We still have some positions opened for:
a) modelers
b) texture artists
c) concept artists
We will soon post some renders of the 1st scene but we won't be revealing too much ;)

Rock on!
@softdistortion: We are rocking, at least doing our best ;) .
We have been working hard on this project. Here is a screen shot of the ship, it is not completely finished yet:

It is a bit hard to work without the actual concept, so if anyone is interested in doing some paint overs on the ship i would highly apprechiate it. Any ideas or suggestions are more then welcome.
Bumblebee is rigged and the rigger is working on the transformation also, stay tuned for some videos.
Also we have an amazing guy in the team who will also be doing some rigs for the robots and he made a script for exporting the whole models with texture map and shaders from Max to Maya since we will have rigs and animations done in Maya.

We are still looking for people in different areas of expertise, so if you think you could help us out just write me a message.

damm nice is gonna follow this but yeah i am to new in the 3d vfx world to be of any help :)
@sova i joined collabsite and is a sound designer composer maybe i can be of some help
Hello everyone.
We have a great concept artist working with us on the project, i only wish we had him on board earlier.
We are most likely going to do another version of the ship ( capsule ) which will be used in 1st few shoots because the one we have right now is not in the actual transformers style. Soon the concept of the capsule will be finished and i am going to be modeling it (cant wait to start :) ).
If you guys are interesting in helping us we are still looking for lots of people to join us in order to make this movie in high quality and within reasonable time frame.
I will describe a bit what we need modelers for at the moment :
We need someone with ZBrush experience to model the meteor (URGENT). Also we are looking for few good modelers to work on Optimus Primes truck model and the Starscream F22. If somehow you have some versions of these models and are willing to contribute them to our project it would speed things up a lot and we would appreciate it.
After these models are done there is going to be a lot of other stuff for modeling. Even if you feel you are not an expert but more of advanced in 3d modeling, feel free to contact me with some of your modeling work and i am sure we will have something for you to work on.
Also we are looking for :
Texturing artists
Good riggers ( we have few on board but need more since there are a lot of robots to be rigged )
Animators
We are pretty much going to be finishing the 1st scene very soon and we are in urgent need of some vfx experts to help us make this in its full glory.
We joined the collabsite and have a forum there. Thank you softdistortion again for letting us use the site.
@obiwandk We will for sure need a sound designer. Do you have some samples we can hear?
