Hi fellow contestants and visitors.
After reading the objective story ('you are standing......') I was trying to imagine how an alien world would look like. I thought about an undersea world, a world on an asteroid and even an miniature world in an incect like culture. The thing is, each idea that would come to my mind was cliché, I could trace everything back to a book I read, a movie I saw or a painting I looked at. Then my wife came up with this idea, 'you should do something with cropcircles. At first the idea seemd not so good, I mean, we all know how crop looks like and there is hardly anything alien about them. Then I sat down and let my mind run over the idea and the objective for a while and then I came up with the concept I'm going to realize:
'You are standing on some unknown alien setting.', where does it say that 'you' has to be human? In my concept, 'you' is an alien being who is visiting our world and looking out over.....crop circles ( The location where you stand seems to be moving and it is difficult to comprehend its function or intent. ).
My scene will be a still, taken from the eyes of an alien. For us humans, it will look alien because the structure of alien eyes differ from human eyes, the coloring, depth and lighting of the scene will convince the viewer that you are really looking though the eyes of an alien.
So forgive my long story but I have to make up for me being a lousy drawer :)
Anyway, here's my first concept sketch. Following sketches will most likely be renders with rough objects.

I'll sleep a night over this idea and when I dream up some fantastic alien landscape idea tonight I'll change the concept but I suspect I'll stay with it.
