Hey all!

I'm currently in post-production on a short film (15 minutes apprx) that has around 5-7 shots at the climax that require some visual fx or compositing work. The project is a Denver based independent production by GalaxC | FX (http://www.galaxcfx.com) and more info about the film can be found on the website or on facebook HERE (http://facebook.com/pushthefilm).

The shot's needed for collaboration are green screen shots of an actress that will be in a scene with fireballs raining from the sky. For an example, take a look the recent blockbuster '2012' about 1 hour into the film when the super-volcano explodes and the pyroclastic fragments are raining down on them while they escape in the RV.

Compositing and edits are being done in AfterEffects and all footage is 720p at 60 frames per second. The final output will be 720p at 23.976 frames per second.

This is a work-for-portfolio project only (non paying), the actress and all other members of the team are doing it for their love of art and to have a great experience working with others to make something that matters to them and hopefully moves the audience.

If this sounds interesting to you, please respond with links to some similar vfx work you have done and lets get started!

Thanks a ton! CHEERS!

Looks interesting.
Curious why you chose 720p 60fps...any reason beyond the frame rate?

I find it's easier to conform to 24p later on rather than be limited to 24p right off the bat. Plus the dramatic scenes will be slowed down at the end. My shutter speed was at like 2k most of the outside shots haha

Interesting reasoning.

Not a criticism, just talking shop here...is it worth loosing the extra resolution 1080 give for vfx work. Also have you tried 1080 downrezed to 720? will look nicer imo. :)

Conforming aside, have you considered using Chronos etc to slow it down.... at 2k you will need to add artificial blur anyways to make it look like film....assuming you want a film look.

Hey everyone, decided to just finish the film on my own since I had some people drop out of the production (figures). I also submitted it to 4 festivals this year and maybe a few more later on...
Anyhow if anyone is interested in watching it (recommend watching in HD on vimeo):

Sorry to hear you lost your help.

Kudos on "pushing" :D through to delivery on your film anyway.

Not everyone's cup of tea as a subject matter, but you made it look really good visually.

Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

Will IMDb film credit be provided?

Thanks,
Kaustav

Thanks guys!
Here's a link to the IMDB page (still trying to figure out why other people are listed incorrectly as directors or whatever):

Is the film completed?
