Hi all,

I have set up different render layers in the Render Layer Editor in mental ray but when I render it outputs every layer to a different exr file. Is it somehow possible to render different render layers to just 1 exr file?

I dont think you can do that with EXR
however you can do it with PSD layred as a file format

Better to keep your passes as separate files anyway. Multi layered EXR's tend to slow down compositing node graphs (at least in Nuke anyway).

thanks for your replies. Well I needed it for in Nuke so I'll then try to separate it. :)

What's wrong if they are under one folder?
How about when you want to rerender one layer? You would need to render the whole thing? And if the exr gets corrupted then everything gets lost?.
