This was created for a challenge over at Polycount. The challenge was to create a 10 thousand poly character based on one of the Night breeds (Old movie monsters). I played with a few designs before deciding on a Turkish Vampire

Vampire
(Note: this is just part of a much larger story)
Gazi Rustem, better known as Ortas (battalion) was a 15th century Turkish warlord responsible for the capture and torture of the infamous Vlad the Impaler during his childhood. Vlad was released after his father Vlad Dracul was brutally murdered. After reclaiming his father's throne in the province of Wallachia by force in 1456, Vlad Dracula began a reign that was short but extremely bloody.
Prince Dracula who was much feared, went on a rampage of executions where he would have live victims impaled through the chest on sharpened stakes set into the ground. On one occasion he actually created a terrifying "forest of the dead" when he had thousands of Turkish prisoners executed by this method. The only victim to survive this slaughter was Ortas who, unknown to Vlad, was transformed by the bite of Dracula himself.
With his new found power he began to build a massive army within the Ottoman Empire that would wreak havoc with their neighbors the Byzantines for many years. After century of endless fighting he settled down and took a high ranking position within one of the underground Vampire factions.

A savage warrior, his prowls as a fighter had gone unopposed until the 17th century when he was confronted by the slayer Pi. Pi, who happens to be an elemental, watched as her family was killed by Ortas’s army in the 16th century. Bent on revenge she was able to hunt him down and imprison him within the Paranormal Investigation Agencies Moon-based penal colony “HELL” (information on the Paranormal Investigation Agency and HELL will be revealed at a latter time). Pi, with one last act of humiliation on Ortas part, marked him with the brand of the V (Vampire).

Orta currently bides his time within the cells of HELL waiting for an opportunity to avenge himself.

Well... I really looking forward for your future works. This one is very good. I especially liked the 2D drawings.

By the way, where is this story coming from? I mean, why a Turkish Vampire anyway? :p

Thanks guys!

tgn376j, I worked on this off and on for a month. I probably invested 15 hrs in him. I'm currently working on the texture and will post an update once completed. I'm not sure about an animation at the moment.

Tughan. Part of the story is from the history of Vlad Dracul, the inspiration of Dracula. Vlad was constantly fighting the Turks so I thought it would be cool if he accidentally turned one of them into a Vampire.

Very inspiring.

I especially like the detail in the shoulderpads and forehead. It's truly the subtle things that make the difference.

Can't wait for the textures. After seeing what you've done on your site, it's sure to be a treat.

Also, please forgive my ignorance, Bobo, but the first post says something about a "challenge over at Polycount."

What is Polycount? A site? A forum?

Thx,

Your work is very good. Weapons and shoes are ok. But the whole looks more like a chinese or japanese soldier.

I am Turkish. And as I learned in the school Turkish dont wear heavy armors, They move fast and are very good riders. You should make him a mad horse.

This man looks powerful, his face is really Turkish.
what ever, go on wroking and dont forget that Turkish armies beat their enemies with their manuever speed.

Oh, don't worry about me. I mean, I didn't really want to know what Polycount was or anything. Yeah.

Just thought I'd ask to look cool. You know, namedrop.

I'll just sit over here and look at the wall or something. I'll be fine. No, really.

:p

Agent 47: Polycount is a site. Most of the work there is game related, and character modeling is probably the most popular subject. Bobo's first post here has links to it- his WIP, the rules to this contest (that he hosted), and the final entry thread- any of these links will have links to the Polycount main page.

...Alas, the links have recently changed.

Nice work Bobo, good to see you posting here too. Your work has always stood out as some of the best in the polycount forums.

A very tight model indeed... looking forward to seeing it textured:applause:
