Hi Everyone

I try to discover the topic, how to extract props animation from mocap data. I read a couple of discussions about this and I'm still looking for good tutorials, videos, etc.

As a matter of fact I didn't find a simple workflow for extract mocap props data and apply/retarget to my character.

Still don't understand why we have Props Slot in the Character Mapping List.

Does anybody have a hint about the topic?

Thanks

This should help you out.

The props slot is an older feature to help plot the prop at the same time the character is plotted.

Hi

I encountered another issue in connection with props. It seems no way to get the animation for a character and its prop if I load the saved fbx file on a story character track. The character is moving but the prop is not.
I made character extension for the prop but it didn't help. If I just merge the fbx file its working fine.

There is a props and extension checkbox below the body parts (on character track) so I guess I'm doing something wrong.

Hello,

Hopefully I am understanding your issue correctly. Have you tried creating a separate Generic Animation Track and inserting the current take for the prop itself in that space, along with a Character Animation Track for your animated character? They may have to be exported/imported on their own individual tracks.

Hmm, it should unless there is a new bug, if the fbx file your loading has animation on the object that is in the extension it should load in.

Yes,
it seems 2012 bug. The character extension works fine under MotionBuilder 2011.
