I just discovered that if you drag the 'SpaceBall' from the Devices to the viewer, and then in the 'devices' tab of the navigator, click on the red 'Online' button, the 3dConnexion puck works with MB!!!

If you haven't used one, go buy one today. Works with 3ds and Maya also. I couldn't live without one now.

I just bought the inexpensive Space Navigator instead of the larger one with more buttons - and haven't regretted it.
