Hi,

I was wonder if you could see the result of your AO overlayed on your regular render instantly. Right now I do this: Create my scene / anim, create new render layer, assign preset AO, change some settings, test render regular scene, change layer to AO, render that, save both to file, open in photoshop, overlay. I was wondering if maya could do the overlaying process instantly like cinema4D does automatically for you.

Im using maya 2011.

Greetings

Yes. set your AO layer to multiply in the render layer editor. Then open your render view and click "render all layers" in the "render" menu.
Now maya will render and composite all layers that are set to be renderable.

I might be stupid but cant find the option to set my layer to multiply in the render layer editor.

This is what you mean by render layer editor right?
