This is Vulcarus, third planet of the Vulkar-Karak binary system. The inhabitants of the planet, known as the Vul, left their homeworld just short of 100 years ago to escape an invasion. The Mola, from Churan, the sixth planet of the of the Kora system.
You have crash landed on the main continent to find that the planet is still well maintained by a number of domestic robots, unaware that their creators left for a new home almost a century before.
The landscape is breathtaking, island cities floating in the sky, robots whizzing about, and the city lights on the two moons visible from even here give you a feeling of how advanced these peple were.
Now there's only problem... how will you ever get home?

this was done in photoshop, expect the final to use the moons in the background, but to be from the surface of the planet.

These floating insect-like devices have faithfully performed their duty for many years. The city is full of these little guys, who are constantly tidying up.

The population of Vulcarus was obviously very advanced. the planet, along with both moons, are covered in cities visible from space, and these floating islands dot the sky. they seem to serve some purpose, other than habitation, but it is not apparent to you what this function could be.

the floating islands, actually a fusion power plant. i gave it 6 of the hover podsrather than 4, because 6 is a number more often seen in nature

The floating islands, one of the more mysterious aspects of the landscape. the structure at the top looks like oxidized bronze, however it also appears almost crystaline, grown rather than built. The lower portions are obviously artificial, built more to compliment the natural aspects than to modify. Randomness combined with order seems to be the rule here, almost as if the planet itself planned the construction of this vast city.

Very nice, you are working with all the WIP stages wich will give you good ideas for what things will look like, your design have a life inside it I mean the robots are moving and helping and so on, so the aliens are working...:)
give the island a huge community look for all its parts to mix things better.

keep on,

the surface of the planet is still far below... Vulcarus is like an onion, layer upon layer of city. The layer you are currently on is floored by large hexagonal panels, modular in design and varied in purpose.
