Hey everyone,
I'm just looking for a little advice, as I am working on putting together my demo reel to apply to school.
I was just wondering, how important is it to display good facial animation (lip sinc, etc.) over just using expression through body movement?
Should I be looking into including a piece of facial animation on my reel, or is it not necessary?

Thanks in advance for your opinions,

that depends. how good are you at facial animation and acting pieces?

I find that in my reels, those are the pieces that are most subject to critique, and consequently the hardest to get right.

this is one of those questions where many people will tell you different things, but for my 2 cents, I'd keep it mostly motion, showing good weight and timing, and if you add in an acting piece, keep it short and make it good. 10 seconds is probably fine for length.

good luck,

id say the same coop, i think that a showreel with mainly action rather than acting will show off your knowledge of weight and balance and the fundamental better than an acting piece would.

If you can create an impresive, high quality acting, go for acting!!! It will differ your reel from the rest...
Quality facial is very impresive. But it should be good and with sound. If it's without sound there should be no speaking.
