What the article didn't say that I read on a Mac (I think it’s Mac Forum) Magazine yesterday was the biggest reason they went with the Mac was they where able to deliver 1100 Macs on time. Dell and HP couldn't guarantee the delivery. That's why there was a delay in delivering Macs to people who placed orders. Their reason for the rush? They wanted to make it in time for the Top 500 ranking. I'll try to find the magazine's name and page number.

He said the new dean of Virginia Tech gave him the go-ahead to build the supercomputer during the dean's first day on the job.

Can you imagine, walking up to your boss and having this conversation:

You: "hey there boss, good to have you on board. By the way, do you mind if I build a supercomputer out of Macs for about $5.2 million, oh and have the school pay for it?"
New Boss: "Sure, no problem, just send the invoice to Accounts Payable"

That is the boss that I need.
