View Full Version : camera mapping projection problem!

Hi guys, i have camera mapped a building from a photo which looks fine and lets me rotate etc. However i want blocks to detach from the building but maintain their texture. is there anyway i can do that as at the moment the texture is distorting because its the camera projection.

second question if i have a background plane in to catch the rest of the scene projection the background projection goes out of place when i animate the render camera around my building

you want that your texture stick on the object at the frame you camap it. So you want to camap like in softimage ... :) The bad news is that you can' t do this directly in maya , but i can be wrong on this ... to my knowledge you have two options to do this

- the one i use is the pRef option in renderman, and i'm afraid it will not be the one you want
- the other option that can be done in mental ray is to create a reference geometry , i never try it myself but the idea is to have object A and B that are excatly the same, you camap on A and then B get his reference texture from A. the option is in the rendering tab , but i don't remeber the exact name i' ll check this tomorow ...
