Here's the deal. I'm a modeler and while I like to think I can render well the truth is I need a lot more practice. I was hoping to team up with someone(s) to render out some models of mine for portfolio purposes. I supply the subject for rendering and we both have an image to share in our portfolios. Rights will made in the descriptions of any work and credit given where it needs to be.

If you are interested or have an questions or concerns just post them on this thread.

Thanks for any interest you may have :)

Josh

Hmm. I really thought I would get some hits here. Can anyone suggest a good online source to propose this?

Hey friend
Alittle tip maybe you can show what u can do or what you already have to give people here an idea of your current level of skills.
I guess this will give more attention to your thread here ;) good luck .

Well, here's one piece that needs some love. Still needs to be unwrapped, painted, rigged and then posed.

Any interest? I have lots of other projects in the 90% range than can be finished. That's my number one issue. I have tons of models in the "almost complete stage" but once I get near completion I loose momentum as I know they aren't going to be rendered and I don't feel like I can share them so....undone. :hmm:

IRAFK- welcome and thanks for adding your help search in the forum here...hopefully we can help you find what you need.

Tony's (TheBest) suggesttions are bang on and nice to see you added more info.
Some things I'd still be curious to know- you are asking for rendering help, but from your comments on your model, are you also wanting someone to texture and rig and pose/animate the models?

If so, it might be best to be sepecific about the extras you are looking for - which are significant amounts of work.

Also wondering is the image of the creature an original concept?

If you have lots of models part done might also be a good idea to post a few more of your best, with some variety (organic/mechanical if you have both). The more you present in an appealin way the more likley it is to tip the balance and nmove lurkers to respond with an offer for help.

Simply put, we need to make our posts like very appealing advertisments that motivate people to "buy" in by offering their time and energy to the effort.

Another good way to get response is to offer a small fee. It also shows the prospective artists you will value their work more than FREE- it also motivates them to finish.

I agree. If someone would like to texture, rig and pose the models as well as render them, they are welcome to it as the model will be theres after they agree to render.

If so, it might be best to be sepecific about the extras you are looking for - which are significant amounts of work. I'm not sure what you mean. :argh:

Also wondering is the image of the creature an original concept? It is an original concept, just not mine. It's from Andy Hopp. I asked him for permission to use his concept as a reference. http://www.andyhopp.com/

The more you present in an appealin way the more likley it is to tip the balance and nmove lurkers to respond with an offer for help. I plan on it. But I'm in the process of moving work over to a new PC atm. :)

Payment is established in the sharing aspect. You get to use my models and I get a rendered image. I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine. I'm looking for the artist who is in similar position as me. Someone that needs content for their portfolio but may not be the strongest modeler and doesn't want to shell out dough to buy models. Just like I'm not the strongest lighting or rendering artist. I hope that is more clear.

Got it...You probably realize it, but typically, unwrap/texture - skin/rig/animate are the parts not so well supported in collab work.

There are more people making models than ones that do the finishing work. If they do the texture/rig part they usually are busy doing their own models.

Still, you never know who is in here, so COME ON PEOPLE- someone.. help out if you can..seems like a pretty no pressure collab to break in on if you have been sitting on the fence watching. :wavey:

Re the "might be best to be specific about the extras you are looking for - which are significant amounts of work." comment. What I meant was if you want a certain look, match the texture of your ref, or for rendering, do you care if it's photoreal or non photoreal, ingame style render.

Do you want a specific pose or animation? Is the tail supposed to move a certain way etc, etc.

I'm a lighting artist that's been looking for someone to model a decently detailed pirate ship. If you've got one of those, or are interested in making one, then I would be interested. It would be for a still image. I can do a little texture work, but I'm not super great at it.

What kind? Realistic or stylized?

Realistic. The nice looking models online all cost money and the free ones all look terrible from what I've seen. I was wanting to do a ship in a bottle, thought it would be fun.

Ah, ship in the bottle. Sure. Ill model that. I'm on vacation now. Ill be back home next week. Ill start then and create a wip thread to keep you updated on its progress.

Sounds perfect! I won't be able to start on it for a while anyways. Like, probably end of August (Trying to finish up some other work by then). Does that work for you?

Oh, and I can also light and render some of your other completed models too. I guess I left that part out earlier.

Working on the ship in the bottle. Here's a car I have that's almost done.

Tires wont render, not sure why. I still need to fix the right windshield wiper, add some emblems, do the rims, make the inter cooler and muffle and then its done. Any takers?

If you don't find anyone (for your car), I'll try to put a render together for you for your portfolio.
Let me know when you're finished.
