View Full Version : Animation Export From XSI to Maya????
CobraX 10-30-2003, 03:20 AM Hi All,
i have been trying to Export and import an animated camera from XSI to Maya with XSI2Maya Camera http://www.xsibase.com/netview/tools/sp_animation.php?detail=362
But man!!! I never get animation when i import ito Maya. Would anyone have any idea on how it should be done, what should be selected in XSI for the camera animation.???
Thank you so much in advance:)
Xavier.

I donīt know XSI2Maya, but have you already tried to plot the camera and then cut it, so that the keys are not in the aim, but in the cameraobject itself?
Iīm also making a movie in XSI, that is rendered in Maya (Renderman). I export everything with filmbox.

if nothing cuts it just do it the simple way.
plot the camera and camera interest movments into curves and get the curves into maya to re-constrani ur camera

yes, or constrain an object to your camera and another one to the interest, dotXSI export their animation, import, reconstrain and PRAY...
(I know it sounds smelly, but sometimes hackin'n'slashin' is the only solution)

Yesterday we had the same problem. And as well as I remember the guys exported dotXSI and worked it out in DeepExploration.

Heh, here's the problem. DeepExploration doesn't see the camera's animation. And here's the solution. Create in the scene any object with animation for the whole scene length. And DE will see the camera's animation immediately. :)

Hey all
THanks for using our script. Sorry its been giving you problems.
The Maya side has some issues (are you all using 5.0??) which I'll fix this week. I'll post here when its sorted...
*insert usual gripe about being busy and not having enough time and updating website etc here*
Cheers!
