View Full Version : Help with mental ray low on memory and AO

Hi,

I am trying to render an AO and I keep getting the message that mental ray is low in memory and abording.
I have changed the BSP and I don't go above 60 as it isn't recommended and the size of the BSP is 10. I have tried regular BSP large BSP and BSP 2 nothing work.
I have rendered the beauty and it runs fine but mental ray runs out of memory with the AO.
I have a 12 core PC with 12 gb of ram.
What could I do and why is it running out of memory for the AO and not the Beauty pass which has lots of high resolution map?

What are you doing for your AO shader?

The AO shader is a mib_amb_occlusion plug to the out color of a surface shader.
sample are just 16

Turn Scanline Off (select Raytrace) in the Features Tab.

Forever.

You may also need to give the ambient occlusion shader a distance limit that makes sense for your scene.
