Hi !

I made this short last year for my school but there were some problems with the compositing.
Last week I had some time to work on it a little again to obtain exactly what I originaly wanted.

My goal was to achieve a specific 2d look with 3d softwares...
I used Max5 and Combustion. No render plugins at all.

Here is a frame :

Same frame but wire (not really important but  )

Download : La mouche (http://www.tikimatic.net/upload/large/la_mouche.mov) (sorenson3 - 13,5Mb)

So what do you think about the overall aspect ?
Does the basic animation spoil the entire short ?
Is the sound correct or you think it's better to work on it a little more ?

Thank you.

pretty cool effect going on there....my only Crit would be that I'd like to see more than just side scrolling.....actually moving around through the scene. Other than that...I like the style

I loved it. Great work with so few tools.

My only crit would be the animation is a bit jerky. You need a bit more ease, but other than that, I must say I'm very impressed. I hope to see more from you soon.

Thank you for your comments !

Yep I agree with the "jerky" animation.
But this was my first reel "animation" (made in 2 months in automn 2002...). I made big progress since :)
Last week i worked just on the compositing.

Here is a shader test for gueedo...

shader test01 (http://www.tikimatic.net/upload/large/la_mouche_shadertest.avi) - 5.8Mo

ok it's not a flyby of the scene... For this short I wanted simple camera move.

Very cool piece, despite the stiff animation. Nice sound design.

Thanks (for the crits and for the up too) :wavey:

I'm ok with you all about the animation... But i haven't the time and the courage now to do it better... I think i'll never fix it because i made this more for the look (rendering) not the animation or "story",...
