Look good exept the bottom lip that should be fixed. Try reshaping it by looking to some reference pictures, it' too regular.
Beside that, everything is ok. you need some work on some area but it doesnt hurt a lot.
Good luck.

try to make a more interesting nose, its kind of flat and simple right now, it might also help to post some wires.

hmm, make the ear sliighhttllyy bigger and let it flow into the side of the head more. it seems to have an edge where it comes off of the head at the front, which seemed a little awkward to me. Maybe it shouldnt though, I'm not skilled with heads, so you know.

definitely has some character to it anyhow :)

Why have you got 2 mesh smooth modifiers on? Couldn't you have just upped the itterations on one of them?

I agree with Annuostivix about the ears flowing into the side of the head more.
From the front view the nostril holes look a little too circluar. What is even better than reference photos is getting a small mirror on your computer desk.

the 2 mesh smoothing modifires were accidents i was a lil tired when i made the the renders by the time i reolozed thats what was going on i had already uploaded the pic and i was to lazy to fix that.

the edge is from useing a seprate smoothing group from the head so when i do finish this mug ill just just convert the meshsmoothed mesh back into a regular mesh and assign the ear area under the same smoothing group as the head and that should let the ear flow into the head and get rid of that hard edge you see ;)

as far the mouth, ear, and nose ill work on those areas i have an idea on how to fix the mouth real quick the ears will be made bigger ( im going to make them pointy too :D ( itll be a drow when im finished) as far as the nose ill have to look at that in a cuple days after i finishfixing the mouth and ears because after working on sometings so long you tend to think things look better than what they are and end up with strange deformations.
I just got back from san antanio so sorry it took me so long to respond. and thanks for the crits and comments.

It looks fairly good but first of all you should have shown it in slightly better light. The shadows make it hard to really recognise the shapes. I think the proportions are overall correct, its more the detailed shapes that need work on. As mentioned the mouth, nostrils and ears need some work. The eyes look quite good but I'd put in some pupils just to really be able to judge if they aren't too big. There seems to be some bulges between the eyebrows, just below the forehead as well.

here is an up date i added an extra plain to the nose, narrowed the nostrals, added the cliff to the upper lip, tweaked the lower lip a lil, and scaled the ear up and assigned the ear to the same smoothing group as the head, tilted it away from the head some it looked to close to me, and it is only 1 level of smooth shadeing this time.

the lights you have on the object are deceiving...try and model with your default lights instead.....One main reason it looks wierd is that you have lights where there would normally be shadows...the nostrils and under the jaws for example.

I think the area above the eyes and the eyebrows need really a lot of work. From the side there are no eyebrows at all. And there seem to be no folds in the upper eyelit.
The mouth could be toned down a bit, but it is not a bad start at all.

there are no eye brows yet. i havent put them in.

the eye lids though thanks for mentioning that i would have proberbly forgotten about those if you hadent said anything. ill do that after the full mesh is finished that way i can have the mesh-smoothd mesh just be a mesh when i go to do those things.

well here i put the brow in and with the 2 lights you can see the creases on the eye lids better i did pull the fold in but when i mesh smothed it didnt seem to change all that much

so how old is this character supposed to be?

the "ski ramp" nose makes him look under 16.

just perceiving. might add a little curvature in there.

he looks young cuz he is going to be a drow(dark elf) warrior when its finished. thats also why he has black eyes and blueish purple hair. the skin when i get to that is going to be like a light violet gray color. yeah i know he dosent have pointy ears yet ill got to that after i work on some other stuff on the face.

i should posted that info before i started asking for help :)

hey man i figured out what you ment with the eyes. I didnt reolize what you ment till i had my figuredrawing class. i think im missing alot of stuff on it because i have been working on it to much at a time i think. so im takeing a break from it for a cuple of days and i will try to make the nessesary ajustments i guess.

so if you see anything else that looks off let me know so i can fix those things when i get back to the model. Thanks.

and sorry if i have been comming off a lil pissy ive been stressing with alot of stuff and school.

oh and here this is the last render i made the other day with the shadowmaps on.
